Ok, My LO is 7 months and still eats at 12am and 4am. We put her to bed around 9pm (filled to the brim). She wakes up for good around 6am. I can't take it. Is this motherhood? I want 7 hours just once! I'm thinking of CIO. Am I asking too much? My ped. says she should sleep, but it is not happening. I do have been Bfing exclusively, except for a few experimental bites of bananas. thank you, thank you, thank you for your imput

She'll probably grow out of it. But don't hold back solids!!! Give her cereal, veggies, and fruit during the day. Don't put it off for later, as she needs to get used to the feel of solids in her mouth, not to mention spoons and cups.

My dd is 4 months today and has been sleeping through the night for 2 months already. She goes to bed (filled to the brim :-) anytime between 10pm and 11pm. and wakes up around 8:30am or 9am. I am in heaven. Maybe if waking at 12 am and 4 am has become habit rather than actual hunger, maybe you could try giving her a bottle with water in it. She will probably hate it, and after a few nights of being offered only water, she'll probably give up waking through the night....I wouldn't do that for both the 12 am and 4 am wake up's at first ....maybe pick the one you hate the most and work on eliminating that one. Once that one is gone, you could work on the second. Good luck!

I agree with ssmith. I remember went Kellen had a cold and was waking during the night. I would nurse her to sleep. After the cold ran its course, she still was waking up. I stopped nursing her and just comforted only. Two days later, she was back sleeping through the night! Now I can hear her wake up, she plays or tosses for about 20 minutes and then puts herself to sleep.

Thanks ladies! A few more questions...
1) how old were you LOs whe they slept through(how many hours is that really)?
2)What order did you start solids? So far we have done cereal, bananas, carrots and squash. I'm thinking green next.

Kellen is only 4.5 mos. and we have not started any solids yet. She began sleeping 6.5 hrs when she turned 2 mos old (around 10.5 lbs weight). By 2.5 mos, she was sleeping 8 hrs. Now she goes to bed between 8 and 9 (average 9) and sleeps until 6:30. That is around 9.5 hrs. She then is up until around 8:30 and takes a long morning nap for 2 hrs (or so the daycare provider tells me!)

My daughter first slept through the night at 7 months. That was when she found her thumb! "Through the night" usually means more than 6 hours. She began trying solid food at 5.5 months, but I only gave it once a day for a month or so. She didn't like rice, so I gave her oatmeal and barley, then sweet potatoes, carrots and peas. Just see what yours likes. You can't feed them what they don't like, be it of any color!

My baby started sleeping through the night at about 6 weeks(eight hours or more) I let him cry it out for the first time he cried about 15-20 minutes. I may be a bad mom for this but I started letting my baby cry it out from then on(never more than about 15 minutes) and now he is 4 monthes only cries about 5 minutes and sleeps for 12 or 13 hours. I know it does not work for every baby but it is worth a try.
