I'm 8wks pp and think I've gotten my period (again?). The confusing thing is that 2 wks ago, I thought I got my period (started spotting lightly)...then the spotting stopped. Now, I'm bleeding again (bright red and heavier like a period). What is going on? Is that normal? I had a C-section. Anyone else have this intermittant spotting/bleeding so early? At my 6wk appt my OB said the spotting was normal but would I have had another full fledged period so soon?

hmmmm... I would call your OB about this. I thought that woman who breastfeed don't get their period for quite some time. A good friend of mine did not get hers until she weaned her son at 18 months old. Did you just start taking birth control or something?

Hi, It could be retained placenta. This happened to me and I was bleeding ALOT for 9 weeks. It was more like hemoraging but you may need an ultrasound to rule this out! They found a 5 cm piece adhered to the wall of my uterus. Otherwise..there is a chance it is your period or it could be something else all together..Good Luck

Wailing- i read somewhere that if you feed less often ( or in you case if u gave ty some formula for a few days) it could tell your body that its time to have a period- the more they suck it tells your body to hold off and the less they nurse it tells your body to go ahead become fertila again- I had some a period I think around 6 weeks post partum- she was sleeping long periods at night with out nursing.. but nothing since then ( I am 12 weeks now) and now she nurses at least once through the night...
and it is perfectly normal for some woman to BF completely and still get periods back early- everyone is different- but I think the rule of thumb is the more they nurse the less likely you are to have a period.
