Hello Im wondering if any of you have had experience with this herb? I was told it increases milk production but on another forum quite a few women were complaining about gassy and fussy babies..

I take it occasionally for a week or so if I feel I'm not able to pump as much during my work week. My son as never been affected by me taking it...and the only side effect of it that I HATE is the fact that your sweat and urine smell like maple syrup. :o)

Thanks Steph, but surely maple syrup is better smelling than sweat and urine to begin with? LOL I began taking it today..ive struggled so bad with bf and i give what i have which is an oz a day..guess its better than nothing and I hope this herb with increase my supply.

LOL Hana!! I guess your right!! :o) You can also get, and drink it in conjunction while taking the Fenugreek, is mother's milk tea. I've not tried it, but some people say it tastes icky, and others seem to like it. Hope the Fenurgreek helps you, it really does for me! :o)

Steph...how much do you take? I think my milk supply is a little low, but I don't know how much Fenugreek to take.

Steph - November 28th, 2006 12:34 PM

I take 2 pills three times per day. It seems to increase my supply in about 24 hours or so. Once you start smelling like syurp, it's taking effect. I've actually just started taking it again cause I feel my supply is a bit low because I'm not getting as much when I pump at work.

Hi, I tried the Mother's milk tea and to me it kind of tastes like black liccorice but it wasn't too bad. Then I switched to fenugreek pills and they work soo much better. The lactation consultant told me to take 3 pills three times a day. I took them until my milk supply had increased to the amount I needed then I stopped. I have been off of them for at least a month and am able to breastfeed exclusively. By the way my daughter has never showed any trouble with it.

My lactation consultant told me about fenugreek too. Glad to hear that it has worked for some of you. I may give it a try. Hana: how did it work for you???
