How Do You Know If You Are Ovulating While BF?

Is there any way of knowing if you are ovulationg while breastfeeding? ie. can you do basal monitoring? 'opk's?My baby is 4 months. I want to become pregnant again but without a period it is hard to know if indeed you are ovulating. How soon is it possible to become pregnant again after having a baby? I just want to prepare so I can have a summer baby..will my period return whilst bf?

As far as I understand your period may not return while you are breastfeeding. But obviously there are people who successfully become pregnant while bf. Are you going to wean while you are ttc or keep on going? As far as how soon, look at Britney spears!! Two babies in 1 year!! Sorry, wish I had some better advice for you.

thanks..but does anyone know if basal monitoring works while bf? I am not weaning yet. But at 9 months or so (August) I would like to possibly fall pregnant again but I'd like to try and figure out my cycle too. Are periods regular after having a baby if they were before? Hmm..anyone?

I didn't start menstruating until my dd was 8 mos old. and she was eating solids regularly (she was exclusively bfing until 6 mos when I introd food). My doc said there is no way of knowing when you first ovulate, but that you are more likely to when your baby starts getting something other than just breastmilk. I'm not sure about the opk's, sorry, hopefully someone here can answer that.
