I am 6 mos pregnant and I had completely ruled out breastfeeding because my nipples are so super sensitive I hardly let my husband mess with them. I am afraid that it is too much of a sexual type of thing or that it will hurt! I hear about how important it is to use breast milk to feed the baby so I have considered a pump but I heard that it hurts really bad and messes up your nipples. HELP!

Contact a lactation consultant. The hospitals have them. Breastfeeding if done correctly shouldn't hurt. Its not sexual, its the purpose of the breasts... period. You wont be sexually aroused by your baby. Its a bonding experience between the two of you. Its extremely healthy for you and the baby. There is NO substitute. I beg you, talk to a professional before making your final decision. Go to www.lalecheleague.org

thank you for your comment and for the website rachel. I will check it out. I have heard of all the benefits that the baby can get from my millk and I would be selfish not to give her the best I can. I am signed up to take two breastfeeding classes. I hope it all works out. Thanks again :o)

i second thinking it over. you never know unless you give it a shot. after a frustreated attempt at nursing my first child i thought i wouldn't ever try with my second. i'm so glad that i did! with this new baby on the way i know that breastfeeding is worth all the effort that goes into it.
