My little girl who is 3 months has not pooped in over a week. I just took her to her checkup and mentioned it to her doctor. She said that her weight is great (14lbs) and is quite healthy. She said that around this age, babies who are exclusively bf will sometimes go for a long stretch with a bm. My lo is not fussy or straining at all. She seems very normal and happy baby but not having a bm is still worrying me. Has anyone gone thru this? Does it seem okay? Is there something to promote a bm?

my dd was the same way when she was around 2 months. She would poop every few days, this cycle lasted about a month or so. Once she started to go daily she would go around 3-5 times per day...so enjoy it while it lasts. I don't think breastfed babies get very constipated so I would not worry about that and just as the doctor said this is totally normal. I was concerned too when this happened to my daughter but all was just fine.

My son was the same way he would go one to two weeks in between his bowel movements and was fine. I now have a 4 month old daughter who is following the same pattern, it really is nothing to worry about.

My daughter had the same problem when she was a few months old. The pediatrician recommended putting two tablespoons of karyo syrup in a warm bottle of formula or breast milk. the other thing you can do is feed her a few teaspoons of prunes (baby food of course). Don't give her the whole thing or she will have explosive diarreah. Three teaspoons should do the trick.
