Question Regarding Period While Breastfeeding

I have an 8 month old baby. I am only breastfeeding and not giving him any solids. I just got my period. (I'm not taking any birth control.) If I continue to only breastfeed -will this help in preventing me from getting pregnant or once I got my period it totally doesn't help.

I believe that breastfeeding is never 100% a reliable form of contraception. If you don't want to fall pregnant take extra precautions. I am breast feeding, (son now 1 year old) haven't yet had a period but experiencing pregnancy symptoms at the mo... After 6 months regardless of how much you feed them it's considered an unsafe method.
