This morning I woke up with a terrible burning sensation in my left breast; I tried to nurse my daughter on that side, and it nearly brought me to tears - she also pulled away in protest very quickly, but nursed well on the right side. After she finished nursing, I tried to pump the left side, and couldn't because the burning was so bad. All morning long she's been very fussy, and has needed me to hold her - I checked her mouth, and there's no white stuff like thrush; her gum is a bit swollen where a tooth is coming in, and I can definately feel the tooth better than I've been able to in the past. I'm inclined to think that perhaps the problem is that the tooth bothers her enough to latch incorrectly on the left side causing my nipple/breast soreness? Does that sound at all possible?

Sounds like possibly the beginning of a breast infection. When I had a burning feeling that's what it was. Do you think she was upset with the sore side because you were in pain and couldn't have let down? The best thing I can think of is to offer the sore side first at every feeding until it feels better. Good luck Jamie!
