The public Health Nurse where I live told me that all bareastfed babies need to take these daily until they are no longer breastfed. My problem is my daughter HATES them, I have only tried to give them to her 3 or 4 times and she's already 3 weeks old! When I give them to her she spits almost all of it out then she vomits shortly after so she's not getting any of it. I even tried pumping a 4 oz bottle and putting the drops in the milk but the drops are very strong and she will not take the bottle for nothing!! Did you give your breastfed babies the drops?? any suggestions on how I can get her to take them? Are the super important for them to take?

Hi red what kind of drops are you giving her? What brand? Also if you sqiurt it in the side of her cheek she may take it better. Not fast but slow drip. Towards the back of her mouth and in the cheek. There are no tastebuds there so it might make it easier for her to take. Also do it right before a feeding so she is hungry and then feed so most of it will stay down. It is important to give it to them so they wont get rickets, a bone softening disease caused by vit D deficiency. oh if you do it right after a bath she may be more relaxed, my dd gets them the same time everynight and that has helped us.

Hey, I tried what you told me to do...dropping it down the side of her cheek right before she was due to feed and it worked!! Thanks a lot, I was worried about not giving it to her. I didn't know exactly why I had to give them to her either. I just hope that I didnt start her on them too late, she is already 3 weeks old...
