Want To Stop Breastfeeding During The Day

You will have to drop one feeding/pumping sesson at a time over a period of time to make sure you stay comfortable. Your body will produce what it needs for any night feedings. I am not sure how feasible it will be to nurse during the day on weekends -- your supply will be less during those days, since your body isn't used to having the demand placed on it during the day. |

I did this when my son was 9 months. I too got tired of pumping. I was able to nurse more on the weekends but I had to give him 1 formula bottle per day. I gradually cut out pumping sessions 1-2 weeks at a time. If you stop all pumping, you will be really engorged. Don't pump until you are engorged and see if you can cut down to one pumping session. Eventually you will be able to stop and it'll be pretty pain free. |

I to am bf. My daughter is 3 months and I have a job that doesn't always allow me time to pump. So I only bf at night before she goes to bed and in the morning when she wakes up. She seems satisified. I do still have to supplement on the weekends at least two bottles. |

It is completely possible, by the time I weaned my daughter, she was only nursing a couple of times a day, as she was older. Your daughter may not like the taste of formula at first, but as she is obviously doing well with a bottle, and breast-feeding at night, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Your body makes as much milk as your baby needs, but I agree with C, to cut down gradually and prevent painful engorgement. |
