Hi there. I had my baby abour 5 weeks ago. Everything went well until the 4th week when I developed aa breast infection. I had fever over 100 for about 5 days and was put on antibiotics for 10 days. I have been pumping for him but have noticed that my milk supply has droped a lot. Dose anyone know if it is possible that the volume will return and if there is anything I can do to increase my supply now?
Thanks!

Yes it will come back. Nurse as much as your baby wants and pump as soon as he/she is done nursing for about ten minutes and make sure to drink plenty of water and eat a good diet. I noticed eating a lot of bread/grains builds mine up a lot. At 5 wks though you still don't have a lot of milk like I do at 4 months. Just don't stop. Your supply will go back up. Lots of fluids is very important. Try adding a packet of instant oatmeal to your diet every day. I do and they say it boosts your milk supply. But again, at 5 wks you still don't have a lot of milk yet. It will build up soon though. I wasn't able to pump any extra besides nursing. I'd get maybe a couple ounces in the morning after nursing but now I pump like 16 oz a day and nurse her but I'm going on 5 months soon. Don't give up!

Hi Heidi, thank you so much for your helpful reply. I really appreciated it and surely will try what you suggested. Hopefully, my milk supply will get back up like you say!

pumping really just isn't as efficient as baby's own sucking is...I'd keep baby on the breast as much as possible.

I have to say fenugreek helped me a lot. A nurse at my pediatrician's office recommended it to me, and it really worked for me.
