I asked my pediatrician if it was ok to mix breastmilk and formula in the same bottle and he said no. I wonder does anyone know why that might be?

i haven't tried it nor asked someone about it before,, but could it be cz the formula milk won't dissolve properly with breastmilk?!

hmmm... that's weird, maybe just his opinion? i mixed w/ my 1st baby for months and never had any problems.... i used soy formula to avoid any possible cow's milk allergies, and if i need to supplement this time i will do the same... i'm curious as to why he says 'no'... let me know if you find out... good luck!!!

The only reason for that is because if you mix them together and dont finish the bottle, you will be wasting the breastmilk because you cant re- warm formula in the microwave. You have to warm the water for formula and then add the powder. There is no reason why you cant mix the two together but it is better to do them seperately. HTH

I would say don't do it, as breastmilk is much more valuable and healthier than formula, so you don't want to waste it! Breastmilk has been valued at $2.50 an OUNCE by insurance companies (i.e., your electricty goes down in a hurricane and you have to dump your frozen BM and file a claim for your discarded and wrecked stuff). And BM is full of antibodies and great stuff you want your baby to get while formula is not. I would feed the BM first and if the baby needs more, then give formula.

Do you mean mix the formula powder with B.Milk instead of water?? Or mix the already made formula with B.Milk?
