My daughter will not take any of the formulas that I have tried to give her. I will be going back to work in September and may need to supplement some of her feedings with formula as I'm not sure how much I can pump. Does anyone else have a baby that refused formula? I'm wondering if there is a particular type of formula that breastfed babies prefer? So far I have tried Similac (the ready made kind) and Getleease. I'm hoping she will eventually take formula, otherwise I have no idea what I'm going to do.

I'm exclusively pumping for my lo and I have to supplement with formula at night. I give her either Similar Advance or Enfamil and she doesn't seem to know the difference ;-)

I just recently started supplementing my 4 month old. I went back to work when she was 9 weeks old, and was able to pump at work, but it started getting really difficult. I started off pumping three times a day, and then had to switch to two, and when I got down to one, I just started supplementing. I had a lot stored in the freezer from maternity leave, so during the week now when I send her to daycare, I put three ounces of bm and two ounces of formula in her bottle. I am using enfamil gentlease. It is suppose to be gentler on their tummys. I bf exclusively during the night feedings, and in the morning before leaving for work. Weekends I kinda do both. I don't want to bf her too much during the days, because I have recently stopped leaking, I think they are getting use to only nursing at night. I hope this is helpful!

I am going to need to start supplementing as my pumping is not keeping up with what she takes in. I'm going to try mixing the formula with bm. I am going to start out like 3 parts bm, 1 part formula, then 1/2 and 1/2 etc, so she gets used to the taste. I mean, in my opinion an older baby who is very used to the taste of bm will immediately taste the difference in formula, so it is best to gradually get them used to the taste. JMO. Good luck.

I've only tried one kind of formula - Nestle Good Start Supreme. We were lucky to have no problem with it. I first started by giving my son a bottle at night before bed and rocked him to sleep. Eventually I added a 2nd bottle during the day and went on from there. I pumped for a long while but eventually I was unable to get anything out from the stupid machine.. but now at almost 10 months i'm still able to breastfeed him at night and in the mornings.. and the rest of the time supplement with formula and solids.
