i am only part breastfeeding and i stopped for a week at first and i really missed it a lot. i was wondering if anyone else felt this way once their baby was old enough and you decided to stop. i guess i just missed the closeness and her little reactions. i know you can up until their like 1 or 2 years old but i'm afraid i'll miss it too much once i stop.

I feel where you're coming from. I nursed my first son until he was 14 months. I loved every minunte of it. It was like our special time together and something he couldn't share with anyone else. But I believe that you will both know when it is the right time to stop. As much as I enjoyed it there did come that day finally where both of us were just kind of over it. I can't really explain it but it just felt right. If you miss it and you baby enjoys it maybe you should go back to it until you're both ready to stop.

I nursed Nathan until he was 20 months and then we were both ready to quit. I was 8 weeks pregnant and it was time. BTW-you can nurse as long as you want-child led weaning is the best way to wean!!!

thanks, i thought i was the only crazily protective one not wanting to stop! Hopefully that feeling will come for me to. was it hard to breastfeed while you got pregnant again? 20 months is good! i hope to nurse that long if i can.

ethan is 18 months and he still nurses. Mostly only at bedtime and during the night ( we co-sleep). I'm not quite ready to give it up yet because sometimes in the mornings we lay awake in bed just hanging out and he will latch on and we'll watch tv or just look at eachother! It usually lasts about 20-30 minutes. But...there are also times when I don't want to be a pacifier and I feel trapped on my bed! I know though it wont last forever, I figure we'll both know when the time is right to give it up!
