I had a section on july 8th and I was wondering if someone could tell me when you can take a full bath and when you should remove your strips?

hi there, With all 3 of mine I had a shower on Day 2 while in the hospital. I had my staples remo ved on day 3 and then came home. My steri-strips fell off on their own the following week. I had a shower each day. I don't take baths, so I'm not sure if that would be different or not. What did your dr advise?

I can't believe that your strips are still on! Mine fell off within a week. Like lovemy3 said, you can shower the day after the surgery, but as far as full submersion in water, I would think that is fine once the wound is closed. Check with the doc though to be safe. If your strips haven't fallen off yet, is there a chance the part of the incision is not fully closed? (I know that sounds crazy, but it actually happened to be so that is why I mention it)

I do not think my incision in open. I was on medicaid and since I had problems with my delivery my doctor saw me sooner than usual. You only get one post op visit with medicaid and I have used it. so I guess I am on my own. The last time I saw the doc he just said in would be a few weeks before I could bath he was not specific. I strips were put on a week ago thru I guess they are just stubborn.

my doc told me to wait 4 weeks before I submerge my incision in water.
call and ask.

My doc said no baths until 6 week check up. My staples were taken out after 1 week and tape was taken off at 2 weeks (unless they were to fall off sooner on their own).

I didn't know that baths were forbidden after c/s. I took them every night once I got home from the hospital..oops...hope I don't sound sarcastic but sometimes doctors say things to cover their butts in case something is wrong..if your incision is healed and you can tell it is if its not pussy or open then there is really no reason in my opinion that you couldn't have a bath..once the staples get removed they usually tell you if its healing well or if somethings not right. This is my opinion though and my experience..no lawsuits here please..if anyone knows the reason I am curious to know

It's been almost 2 weeks and my strips are only a tad bit peeled up at the top. I swear its going to be a month before they fall off. Hmmm.... I'm not a big bath person anymore, but I'll try to remember to ask my doc Tues., 'cause I'm curious.
