My wife and I had our first child 10 days ago and after many hours of labor and no progress and the cord around the baby’s neck the docs decided she needed to have an emergency c-section.

During the surgery the baby somehow got turned sideways, or as they called it the traverse position not sure why really that is a bid deal, but when I heard the doc say I have never seen that before I got a little worried. They got the baby out and I went with the baby to make sure she was ok.

So during the closing part of the surgery I guess the docs somehow sewed the bladder to the Uterus. They however did not realize it right away so they had her almost closed up before the doc was decided he was not comfortable with something. The injected some dye into the bladder and sure enough there were leaks.

After consulting with a urology specialist over the phone they opened her back up and tried to repair the damage.

Now 10 days later she went in to get checked and there is still some leaking. So she has to be on a catheter for another 3 weeks to let everything settle down in there so they can go back in and try and find the problem.

Has anyone ever had any issue like this? Can bladder damage like this be fixed? We are worried that my wife will have large amounts of leaking or will need to use a catheter for life.

I am not too comfortable with the docs we have other than her regular doc, and we are looking for specialist that have seen this before. But I worry that she will have to have catheter for a long time.

Any advice would be great.
