My 18 yr. old granddaughter just had a baby 12/06/05 by cesarean section. She is pregnant again, approx. 6 weeks. Isn't this too soon and harmful to her health as well as the baby? She gained so much weight with her first baby and she still is overweight. I am very concerned about her health.

Susan, I had my baby on 12/29/05, and my dr said it's very important to use protection b/c if I did get pregnant within 1 yr my uterus could rupture. It's not common but it could happen (usually more common with c-sections) But on the bright side I've heard of a lot of women getting pregnant 3 mo. after having a baby and everything turns out just fine. As for the weight, that's not so good, but I'm sure if she watches her diet & weight while pregnant second time around it shouldn't be so bad. Sorry, I don't have much of an answer, but thought I would reply anyways....good luck to your granddaughter.

She should be fine. But she will need a repeat csection as the chance of rupture increases dramatically. She needs to be under a OB's care. Good luck.. Enjoy all those great grand kids!
