ok ladies...I had a c-section with my first pregnancy and am pregnant again with my second. I have never heard of the flap before and I am quite confused on what it is? Can someone describe this to me....I'm lost!

Michelle, I think what they mean by the flap is some saggy skin on your lower tummy that "flaps" over toward the pubic hair. I don't think it's really caused by c-sections, though. I think it's from the skin being stretched during pregnancy or by a weight gain. I've always been overweight, and before I ever had my c-section or was ever pregnant, I had a flap. My mom, on the other hand, has always been slender (well, compared to me) and has never had a c-section, and she has some saggy skin on her tummy. I've even seen men with a "flap."

Yeah I know about the "flap", Im recovery from a c/s about 7wks ago; and I now have a belly that kind of folds over where my incision was- How do you get rid of it?

The "flap" or "fupa" is usually only after c-section, but sometimes happens when overweight. I lost 20lbs. during my first 4 months of pregnancy, evened ot during the next two months, then between my 6th and 7th month, I gained 60lbs!! The day after having my daughter (c-section) I lost 33 lbs. It took my a year to lose the rest, but I was left with the fupa. The extra skin due to weight gained, then lost, coupled with all of the strech marks (my skin streched so fast during the 6th month that it bled) created a flap that is impossible to get rid of...I asked my doctor and he said that a lot of women have surgery to remove it, but it won't be covered by insurance. Mine has gotten a lot smaller, but I can tell. I usually get ultra low waist pants (the waist goes right above the scar) that are a size too big, then wear a belt...nobody else can tell that there is a little extra skin.... Hope this helps.
