C-section Or Natural?

You're only 37 weeks. You have 5 more weeks before you're really in "the danger zone" of a vaginal delivery. Don't let your doctor push you into an unnecessary c-section. Also, about your baby measuring above size - those measurements can be WAY off. My DD was measured at 9 pounds when I was 35 weeks. At 37 weeks, she was delivered by emergency c-section and weighed a whopping 8 lbs 1 oz. I would tell your doctor that you would prefer to go to 40 weeks before scheduling your c-section. Or, if he's adamant about scheduling it, then schedule it for 3-4 weeks in the future, and give your baby/body the chance to do it's thing. |

you said you had a c-section before..what was the reason you had the first? I had a c-sec. with my first because I wouldnt progress to a 10 ( I was at a 9.5) and he was losing oxygen, so this time my dr. wanted me to have a c/s and I kind of wanted one too, just because I get to stay home longer afterward, and I'm terrified of going through 15 hours of labor again, then having to have a c-section anyway. I'd rather do one or the other, NOT BOTH! lol. My son never dropped either, even at 9.5 cm when the dr. decided I should try to push, he was still "up there" I would MUCH RATHER have vaginal, because a c-section is horrible, and the labor process wasnt that bad, but I'm opting for a c/s because of that "just in case" fear I have of having a repeat of my last time. |

A natural delivery is easier for you and the baby. You heal faster and it helps the baby push out stuff out of its lungs so it can breathe better. I recommend c-sections only in an emergency. Good luck |

I had a c-section with my first at 37 weeks because he was measuring very large, and was not dropping into position. Had he gone to term he was estimated to be in the range of 12 pounds, but at 37 weeks was just shy of 9 pounds. In my case, the ultrasound estimate for size was right on. This time around, I am 25 weeks, and today my doctor asked me how I was wanting to do the birth this time. I said I wanted to try VBAC, but given the size of the first I am open to what may be needed. When she took my belly measurement I had gained 7 cms in 3 weeks. So now another ultrasound has been booked to check on the size of this baby :) |
