26 hours after my labor induction began i gave birth by c-section to my son lucas! his head was large and my doc discovered during labor that i have a funnel shaped pelvis-wide at the top but narrow at the bottom-too narrow for mr big head. i was so drugged at the hospital that i'm unclear on what i was told about caring for the incision site. is soap and water ok? any information anyone has will be helpful.i am also unsure of how long i shoud expect to bleed vaginally. i'm going through a pad or two per day-no bright red blood-just pinkish. i assume this will last at least a week..?? also-if anyone has any questions about my experience drop me a line.
By the way--the baby and i are both doing very well. Thanks!

Soap and water is fine for your incision. Keep it as dry as possible, too. Don't lift anything heavier than your baby for six weeks. You might want to take stool softeners. The bleeding might last up to 6 weeks...I bled for four after my last c-section. Congratulations on your baby!

I almost forgot...the thing that helped my recovery the most was control panties, those tough, stretchy ones with the spandex that are meant to hold your belly in. I didn't get any after my first c-section, but I did after my second, and I recovered much quicker this time around.
