Is it safe to consume products made with Splenda during pregnancy?

My doctor said it was safe. I have about 4 tablespoons worth each day but you'll get different opinions so it's entirely up to you.

My dr said yes. "What to Expect When You're Expecting" says to limit it to something like 28 packets per day.

i am not an expert but if you want to read about the dangers of splenda go to dr. mercola's web sight and search for splenda. you make your own decision.

I knew someone would come along to tout the horribleness of Splenda. It's much better than other sweeteners. You can have very limited amounts of other sweeteners, too. My dr said about the equivalent of 2 or 3 cans of diet soda.

i wouldn't use it,i heard they use chlorine in it,i just use regular sugars, white and brown,i used
equal before i was pregnant, but now i stay away because of the chemicals used in it.

I'd say ask your doctor because what is okay for one person may not be okay for another. only your doctor knows your health sittuation. But in general I have heard that it is fairly safe.

Right...I don't touch any of that stuff..Splenda, aspartame, nutra-sweet. equal, sweet & low.. It's nothing but chemicals and I'm sorry but I don't trust the FDA at all.. Why not just use regular sugar. We all know that it's safe...It's also natural and if you use it in MODERATION there's no need to worry about the calories. I refuse to be a guina pig for the FDA! Read the reports from real people about side efects they have had from using these sweeteners..
Why take the risk??

I can tell you exactly why to not use table sugar....gestational diabetes, which alot of women have to deal with.....sugar is not an option. Splenda, like almost EVERTHING else is okay in moderation. It will not harm your baby. I would also only trust the answers of professionals (doctors, nutritionist, etc). I can assure you that in my case (GD) sugar is MUCH more harmful to my baby than an occcasional dash of Splenda.

Is the DASH diet save for pregnancy?. I have high blood pressure now and want to follow a diet.
Thanks.

I am a diet soda LOVER - my doc said it was fine and that he'd prefer me to drink diet than consume all that sugar and empty calories. everybody has their opinions :) I trust my doctor

I wouldn't put splenda in my coffee or tea, but there are SO many products that contain it and you don't know it, you will be consuming it somehow.
Splenda does contail formaldehyde, chlorine, amonium, etc.

I use Stevia in my tea. It's a no calorie sweetener that's natural (it's made from a plant).
If you're looking for it in your food store it will probably be by the diet supplements and vitamins, or you may have to go to a health food store.
