Can you have splenda safely during pregnancy? I have heard that it is okay to have some and that is is better than subs like equal. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was looking into this, too. I am an L&D nurse and my co-worker/friend used it while pregnanct and diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The educator at the ob office said it was safe, and so my very careful/anal friend researched and found lots of foods and beverages w/ splenda - a lot of then at wal-mart. Just ask your healthcare provider or diabetic educator for more guidance!

I was told it is safer to use than equal or sweet and low. I limit it to 3 or 4 drinks a week. I force myself to drink water, adding lime or lemon or even adding some orange juice to taste. Much better for you. Plus, don't forget your milk!

Through my research I found that Splenda is a modification of actual sugar - it also does not reach the bloodstream - - so probably like Caffeine it is okay in moderation

My dr. says it's okay, and I'm so happy! "What to Expect when You're Expecting" latest version says it's ok, but to limit to something like 28 packets per day. I heart Splenda!!!
