Is it normal for your legs to get bigger when you are pregnant or is that just a sign you are gaining too much weight?

I notice that the taller woman don't seem to show their arms and legs getting any bigger, just the tummie. The shorter you are I think, the more it shows. I think that's the way it works, oh well.

It might be water retention.

I'm 5'3" and gained 70 lbs in my first pregnancy. My thighs were slightly puffier, but not tangibly so... but if you suspect your legs are swollen, you should check with your physician, as that could be potentially serious.

In case you're worried, by the way, all that weight comes off almost effortlessly within a couple of months after you finish breastfeeding :)
