I think I've heard that it's not good to eat creamy based pasta duri9ng pregnancy eg. carbonara, alfredo etc. Is that right? And do you know the reasons? Is it ok if i cook it myself?

Hi Chris - I've just read it here and there on all these food and pregnancy things - most say to stick to tomato based sauces and avoid creamy based ones. I'm not sure if it's to do with the cream and cheeses in the sauce which could be harmful, or if it's just because it makes you put more weight on?? Everything's ok so far - I had my first appt with the midiwfe today but have another few weeks until my first u/s so still just trying to hope that everything's ok. How about you?

I read not to eat too many heavy carbs at night, so maybe thats it, but as for cheese, it should be fine as its cooked so destroys the listeria that might be present, plus would probably be cheddar /hard(safe) cheese . Im going well, doesnt it take ages for each week to go by when ur waiting for an u/s!!! ive been waiting ages for my next one (which is at 12 wks) ....only 2 weeks to go wahooo! Hoping everything looks good as this is the nuchal testing u/s. Booked my hospital bedroom today..hehe...going in to pay deposit in September and meet with maternity sister to go thru classes and get info on what happens in March!! Kinda exciting..

How exciting booking your room! Can you believe it's actually happening! Yeah, the weeks seem to go by slowly - I just want them to move forward a little faster, especially cos we're so anxious to tell everyone! Only 2 weeks left for you and then you're out of first tri and onto safer ground - wow! Are you showing at all yet?

I think im showing a little, but coz i had an extra 15kgs on me (put it all on after 2 m/c's!!) , its hard to tell, just makes me just look fatter.... tho the scales say i havnt put any weight on. hehe .. We couldnt keep it a secret, even with all our past failures! Im just terrible at hiding things! I bet you cant wait to tell everyone :)
