It does make it a bit harder. I was on the shot for 4 years and had a period 2 time the whole 4 years. I got off it and a 6 months later still didnt have a period...then i found out i was 2 months pregnant! I was so excited!! Then 2 weeks later i lost it. I have never felt so bad. It was blamed by MANY that it was the shot that did it. Just give it time. I just hope i didnt scare you with all that. But i do know where you are coming from.

I think birth control pills are the safest. I like having my period every month, it's comforting in a way to know my body was still working like it should. I was on the pill for 11 years before I went off and it took me 1.5 years to get pregnant after that...

My doctor had told me that as soon as you stop the pill, It is no longer in your body. Meaning that it doesnt stay in your system. So you can get pregnant right away. The flip side to that, is that it may take up to a year or more for your cycles to get back to normal. So ovulation detecting is very hard. Thats what makes it hard for some women to get pregnant right away. Its not the pill. But the fact that you no longer no when you ovulate. It makes it hard to plan the "right time" To have sex. just for the folks that are late to this thread.......i was on the pill for 7 years non stop....i only ever had 2 periods a year due to too much blood loss....and went off them and fell pregnant 2 months later. obviously i didnt ovulate or something the first month...which i expected. ive heard thou, that if u do fall pregga's within the first month off the pill...ur chances of having twins doubles!

I was on birth control pill for 7 yrs. I stopped to get pregnant and 3 months later I was.

i was on the pill for five years and when i went off i didnt get my period for 6 months and after that i never used protection during sex, i finally got pregnant almost 2 years later. everyone's body is different. good luck

I was on the pill for 10 years straight, got of the pill, had a regular period, and got pregnant my next cycle. I had another girlfriend who was on the pill for a long time, got off, and now has inconsistent periods. I think there are lots of factors determining pregnancy, including stress, diet, medications, etc. Good luck!

I've heard that losing weight can also change your cycle because fat contains oestrogens. Don't know if this info. helps ...

I was wondering the same thing! I got off the pill in September and I have been trying to get pregant since. I am still not and I am wondering what I should do. My cycle keeps on getting longer and longer and my husband and I are starting to worry.

I was on Birth Control for 10 years, I went off B Control 1 year before trying to conceive (wanted to make sure all birth control was out of my system)--once my husband and I were ready and started trying, i could not get pregnant. I did not have a period after stopping the pill for 8 months---so i was not ovulating, therefore could not get pregnant. I started taking chinese herbs to get my period back and to start ovulating, after 3 months of taking the herbs I finally started getting my period, but very irregular - i would go from 20 to 60 days, i never know when my period was coming, I finally got pregnant somehow--9after trying for almost two years)---my due date is next week.

it has been proven that being on the pill doesnt effect birth plans what so ever no matter how long you were on the pill for or how many periods u skipped. studies show that being on the pill and skipping your period is actually better for you than a period every month...look it up if u like. but i was on the pill with no periods for years and fell preggo straight off it...miscarried at 4 weeks and never had a period after that as i fell preggo again.
