Burning Sensation In The Left Side Only Of My Hip Area

This is my first pregancy, I'm about 7-8 weeks along, and just recently I have this burning sensation in the left side of my pelvic area. It's not sharp. I'm not spotting or bleeding either

I occasionally have this feeling even when I'm not pregnant. My syep father, an ER Doctor, told me it is probably associated with nerves in your back.

I am 17 weeks pregnant and feel this exact feeling in my left side. I have linked it to a muscle problem but don't know. It's not always but when it comes it sure does burn. Any idea what it is anyone?
