I would like to know the answer to this as well

I have had a constant cold symptom of every sort and flue like symptoms from the beginning and am now 6 months along. Be sure to check with your physician and have a chest x-ray to make sure there isn't something else wrong. I have had blood test and everything else...mine is just sickness-lots of it. As soon as I think I am over it...I get it again and have been on a Z-Pack too. Hope that helps. BE SURE TO GET A CHEST XRAY, they can make them safe during pregnancy by shielding the belly.
MY CANCER WAS CAUGHT BY A CHEST XRAY AFTER I COULDN"T STOP COUGHING...don't take it lightly.

I am on the same boat... I can't seem to talk, walk, sleep, etc. without coughing up a lung and this has been going on for a month. My doctor put me on an inhaler, which helped for a few days, but now I'm worse. I'll have to ask about the chest x-ray because I'm sick of it as well.

I'd really like to know this too - I've been coughing for a month! I'm four and a half months pregnant.

same here. i'm coughing all the time an i'm 21 weeks. i can't even remembr when it started, i just know this annoying cough has been plaguing me forever, but other than that i don't seem to be getting worse (nor better). maybe it's normal, who knows.

Nice to know I'm not the only one! I've been coughing for 2 months straight! It eased up for a bit, but now it's back with a vengeance. Not only does it often cause me to vomit, but because it is such a violent cough, I have developed incontinenc issues! I'm only beginning my fifth month!! Ugh. I see the doctor tomorrow so maybe she will have an answer and a solution.

My doctor gave me Zpac. It helped and rid of my cough.

I'm going on 23 weeks and I've been coughing since early December after I had a cold. It won't seem to go away and I'm still stuffy at night which doesn't help. Glad to hear others have this too because my husband keeps telling me maybe I have something that needs to be checked out but the doctor isn't concerned, just told me to take what's approved on the list they gave me (robitussen or allergy medicine)

I am 18 weeks pregnant. I've had a persisant hacking cough for two weeks now. Recently, I've my sinuses have been congested and I'm blowing my nose every 5 min. I've taken DM, without alcohol, for the cough-but it doesn't help much. I am drinking hot tea. What else can I do? What is Zpac? I also cough so strongly it sometimes makes me vomit. I'm sick of it.

I had the same prob from the 5th month of pregnancy. After the birth of my son it lessened but it still flares up sometimes late at night, or when I'm really stressed. I went to a sauna and the coughing stopped for a month, but I can't afford a sauna session every month. Will be glad to find a remedy.

I started out with a severe upper respiritory infection which led to chronic coughing.I've had this chronic cough since April of 2004!! I've been on every allergy, asthma, inhaler, acid reflux medication there is. The most annoying thing is every dr. or specialist I've been to can't figure it out. Ton's of mucous in my throat, & dr's. can't even figure out if it's coming from my lungs or sinuses. I've had chest x-rays; clear. CT scans; clear. Endiscopy down my throat to my stomach; clear. If these dr's can't cure something I feel is as simple as a cough, what good are they? And yes I smoke, & I know this sounds like denial, but I don't believe for 1 second this is caused by smoking. Is it impedeing my road to recovery? Sure, I guess. I just keep getting tossed from 1 doctor to the other, because none of them can figure it out & it's just simpler to refer me to someone else instead of just admitting, "I don't know how to help".

i have the same problem and i don't know what to do. did you find any solution because my doctor didn't.

A chronic cough can also be a side effect of a group of medicines used to treat high blood pressure called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is the back flow of stomach contents, including digestive juices, into the esophagus or food tube. This is most commonly called acid reflux or heartburn. This acid reflux can come all the way up into the mouth and nose. When this happens the material can be aspirated, dribbling into the windpipe and lungs. This could explain your cough.

Acid reflux can cause the following symptoms:
· Heartburn or a sour taste in the mouth;
· Pain occurring in the middle of the chest;
· Coughing and/or choking while lying down;
· Increased trouble breathing while asleep; and
· Even no symptoms at all. This is called “silent reflux” and it is common.

A trial of Prilosec® (omeprazole) or Pepcid® (famotidine) would not hurt. Please check with your doctor about this possibility to be sure this is the best treatment for you.

speak with your obgyn before taking any medications but as many of you I had the same issue after having an upper and lower conjestion. I was able to releive the symptoms with my antacids, saline for my nose, a humidifier with solumel, making sure my home was toxins free (so no allergins), Plenty of fluids and sleeping on a slight incline until the nasal drip and ended. gaudet@iglide.net

Not to scare anyone, but my daughter, 29 years, otherwise healthy with good prenatal care had all of these couhging symptoms I am reading on this site. She passed away two weeks after delivering a healthy 8lb. girl. Not even her doctor can understand why. The autopsy revealed an enlarged heart (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) check this out.

hi i have had a bad cough at nights mostly i am 6 months pregnant i have been given antibiotics but not helping seems to be getting worse 2 hours sleep a night max and i have a very stressfull job i gave up smoking but have now started again nightmare

My second pregnancy I coughed almost every day from the day I found out I was pregnant. My OB referred me to a pulmonary specialist, but nothing seemed to help. Later I read some info on acid reflux that sounded very interesting. My third pregnancy I only had a little cough at the end, but I was very aggressive about taking Rolaids/Tums and Zantac to prevent acid reflux. And, like many of you, I had incontinence. I just found out I am pregnant again, and here goes the cough again. I'm making an appointment to see my doctor Monday morning. Since I didn't respond to asthma therapy, I'm hoping to try a new route. PLEASE, if you have a problem, make sure your doctor(s) look at the problem more than one way so you don't have to suffer until after delivery (about 7 weeks after for me.)
