I have been having this HORRIBLE tailbone pain for over a week now. Could not sit, walk, or turn over in bed without being in awful pain. Nurse didn't seemed concerned but I knew it wasn't normal. Sure enough I have a cyst there. I have to keep hot water compresses on it and take tylenol. It is such an awful pain. Anyone else get this while pregnant? I am hoping it will take care of itself so I don't have to have surgery. This sucks on top of being pregnant!!!

Oh man, I also have some on my ovaries, but can't imagine how it would feel to have one where you sit down! Ouch, ouch, ouch. So sorry!

I had the same thing. It's called a pilonidal cyst. If the hot compresses don't work they should put you on an antibiotic (there are plenty safe to take during pregnancy), and if that doesn't work, surgery isn't the next best option, what they should do is lancet the cyst and pack it with gauze, it's quite painful but better than the surgery which I've heard a lot of bad things about! Good luck!

I had a friend who had the same type of cyst. Her doc cut it/drained it(not sure) and packed it full of gauze. She had to go in like every other day and get it taken out and repacked-until she had to have surgery for it. She said the gauze visits were horrible...she cried and nearly passed out. She couldn't wait to have surgery. After the surgery she was fine and felt so much better.

Well to make a long story short in only got worse and I ended up at the ER in the middle of the night. They had to lance it and I have been in about every day since getting it packed and unpacked. Im ready for it to be DONE draining!!! It feels so much better but it has been such a pain!!! Thanks for all the inputs!!:)

I had a pilonidal cyst in late 2004, it started out at the doctors the size of a pea, and by the time I was set to go through with high school graduation, my parents took me to the ER and it was the size of a golf ball, I couldn't walk and the only way to sleep was kneeling on the floor onto my couch covered in blankets, Tylenol didn't help much. I was referred to a surgeon and I ended up having the "surgery" (drain and packing) done 2 days before graduation, and then I was instructed to soak in a hot bath covering my vaginal area with a washcloth (so any drainage in the bath wouldn't find it's way to there) and 15 minutes later my mom had to take tweezers and pull the gauze packing out, which stung very badly. I was able to walk for my graduation but still couldn't put pressure on that area, and had to be doped on Vicodin.

Now, about 5 years later, I'm 4 months pregnant and I think the same cyst is coming back. I'm very frustrated because I don't know that they can do the same procedure to me while I'm pregnant, certainly don't want it done without anesthesia and am just scared to death that that will be my only resolution. I just left a message for my midwife to call me so I can explain it to her and see what she suggests. All I can do is hope for the best I guess. :'(
