I just finally got diagnossed from my doctor with SPD. i had been having trouble getting them to understand exactly wehre my pain was also. finally after going in 4 different times my doctor says " oh so its not your vagina that hurts?" i was like NO!!!! origionally i had a yeast infection WITH the SPD so i had that problem too but as soon as that went away and the bone pain was still there i went immediately in and told her something still wasnt right. she pointed to all the places where the ligaments were being stretched and each area was wehre ive been hurting, and the bike thing OMG that was the only way i could describe it too lol. i thought i was going insaine because my family and doctors were all telling me it was normal and just pressure from the baby, i couldnt bring myself to believe that being in this much pain every day for little things like just trying to put on underwear was normal, maybe being uncomfortable yes, but not painful. i hope yours get s better but with your history of back pain im afraid it wont. dont let your doctors ignore you, and if your pain is getting worse closer to labor i would fight hard for a c section because everything ive read has said that a vaginal labor with a really bad case of SPD can make things worse for you and your pelvis. good luck~ |

hi girls. I am 28 weeks and have been diagnosed with SPD. I fell on holiday at 17 weeks and fractured my coccyx. Around 21 weeks I started feeling extreme pubic pain. Turning in bed is agony. Stairs are a killer and trying to put on underwear/shoes etc is also sore. I have seen a physio who has suggested all sorts of exercises (none of which have done any good) I am dreading the birth as I still have some coccyx pain as well as the pubic pain. This is my 3rd prgnancy and I have never experienced this before. I am just trying to soldier on with everything but its getting me down. I have to go back and see physio in a few weeks if no better. |

I am beginning to wonder if this is what I have. I am 22 weeks with #3 and did not experience anything like this with the first 2 until about 8 months. Rolling over in bed is agony, both of my hips ache and picking up one leg at a time high enough to put pants on makes me want to pass out. Dh and I had sex the other night and it was excruciating. Not inside (vagina, cervix or anything) but my actual pubic bone. No matter how gentle he was I was in pain. The next day I seriously could not walk or move a leg sitting or standing without wanting to cry. Then I told poor dh he is cut off for the next 4 months. He could get lucky if this pain goes away, but after reading your posts, I am not optimistic. Has anyone given birth naturally with this condition? My first 2 were natural and I am hoping for the same this time, but I tend to have large babies (my #2 was 9lbs 13 oz). |

hi girls. my doctor says that it shouldnt affect birth. I am not convinced however. I dont even think I can open my legs wide enough to let the baby out. Doc says that there are many positions to try during birth but I am dreading it. |
