I am experiencing the same kind of period like cramps too. I am only about 6 weeks I think, but won't find out for sure until my first OB appointment. I have heard that it could be your ligaments expanding and stretching that can cause the pain. I am hoping that is all that it is.

Melanie I am so glad I just read your comments, I am about 5 wks pg and when i sneezed yesterday I had sharp pain down there, glad to hear its not just me. I also have some mild period like cramping off and on but no bleeding, so I will try not to worry. Thanks for everyones input and good luck with your preganancies!!

Thank you so much for all of your stories. I have had bad cramping and was starting to get very worried. my manager at work sent me this web site and reading this before my dr was able to get back to me helped feel a little bit at ease. My drs advice was to take some tylenol and a heating pad on a very low setting and it has helped.

I am glad to hear I am not alone. I am 10.5 weeks pregnant and have mild period like cramping on and off (no bleeding) I miscarried in September at 8 weeks, so am nervous. I went to the doctors 2 weeks ago and everything looked good saw the baby and heartbeat. I asked my doctor about the cramping and he said it is normal. But I still can not help but worry.

I'm 5 wks pregnant and experiencing a tiny bit cramping on and off. I've been getting some lower back pain, but it's probably because of my bed since I've been getting these aches before I was pregnant. It's an uncomfortable feeling. I just find it wierd, because when I walk around, I don't feel discomfort whatsoever.

Wow! This post has been going on for over a year and even though we are in a little pain, it's very comforting to know that you aren't alone in pregnancy worries. I'm new to the forum and just wanted to let you all know how comforting and mind-easing it is to know that these pains really seem to be a normal part of pregnancy. I am 4.5 weeks pregnant and began to really worry about these cramp feelings, especially since I never cramped during regular cycles. So to all the ladies who've said 'don't worrry, it's normal'....THANK YOU. The post has made me feel so much better. Thanks again!

i am 8 weeks and also starting cramping about 3 day ago. It feels like a mild period pain. This is my 3rd pregnancy , I have two kids , and it did feel strange so I called my doctor who examined me and did an internal scan. He discovered blood in my uterus and could not find a heartbeat. I am due to go back in a weeks time as the fetus indicates only 5 weeks. He ran some blood tests and I am awaiting the results!!!

I am about 4 weeks pregnant with my first and I get period like cramps quite often. I just kept thinking that I was going to start my period and it would all be over. After reading that this is normal though, I feel loads better :o)

Thank you so much for everyones answers. I no longer feel alone. I have been having cramping on and off the entire time since I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I am very excited but the cramps were very concerning after reading about everyone I feel alot better and now I am not so worried any more. Thank you everyone

I found out i was pregnant 8 days ago not getting to excited as i had a mcg last april and was totally devasted, so i am preparing myself if it happens again, although it;s hard not to worry, i just keep thinking if it's going to happen it will happen and it's natures way of saying it was not right. Saying all that on thursday night i noticed i had brown dischage i tried not to panick but hey your only human.. it was that light it was not staining my knickers (without sounding to crude) i am puting this down to implantation bleeding, anway it has stopped and it has gone back to white discharge again , i to am experincing twinges and slight period pains as if i am going to come on, i asked my doctor she said this is normal but could not reassure me on the brown discharge, she has booked me in for an internal scan for the 7th of march. I know this might sound a stupid question but i am worried if an internal scan can lead to a miscarriage! does anyone know if they are safe?
Also i have a aching feeling on my lower back on the right side does anyone know what this is and is this normal, or am i going to mcg again. Please help i am now getting a bit worried about it incase it is another repeat. Also when do you start getting pregnancy symptons? I have swollen boobs, gone off meat totally, feel light headed at times, and going to the toilet a lot, i have no sickness yet but feeling a bit tired like i have a hangover feeling is this normal.

ANYONE! I tried posting this earlier...but im gonna try again. I m/c in Nov last year and I am know 4-5 weeks pregnant...im having MILD cramping throughout the day and some brown spotting....this happened with my last so I am worried that I am miscarrying. Has this happened to anyone else and they have carried to term? HELP! :) im such a worry wort!

Oh...How far along am I? Do I go by the date of my last period (Jan.25) or by the day I concieved..which was Feb. 7th...yes I know exactly when and its sad. :) Any info on this would be fabulous!!!!

this aint a answer but is it rare to have a period and still be prego?

6 weeks pg and went to the Dr. due to some lt. brown spots and no cramps Friday, the ultrasound looked good and we had a heart beat. The Dr. did start me on progesterone because I was measuring smaller than expected and let me know that this is nothing to be to concerned with and ordered some blood tests to have back on Monday. Saturday morning I woke at 3:30 am to sever cramping and heavy bleeding. We went to ER and about 6:45 am the ultrasound showed the uterus closed and the fetus OK and a heart beat. We were sure that I had passed the fetus already and were elated to hear the news. I cramped (much mort than a normal period) until Sunday morning 5:30 am however, I am still bleeding heavy. I will go the Dr. tomorrow to check and see if my body was able to keep the pregnancy. So, has anyone ever experienced this??
