I went in for an doctors appointment and u/s yesterday. My doctors apt was first. My LMP was around the 12th of April making me almost 8 weeks. My doctor did the exam and said it felt like I was about 8 weeks but nothing further. I then went to my u/s and the baby is measuring at 6 weeks. They asked me if I was accurate with my dates and I said yes. So they said I must have ovulated late which makes me 6 weeks not 8. Has anyone ever had this happen before? Also could this of happened because in the beginning of April my husband and I decided to get off the pill so after my lmp I never got back on. Could I have ovulated later because of this??? My doctor didnt seem worried at all but I was wondering if anyone has ever had this happen or know someone. Thank you

Yes, I have heard of dates being off by 2 weeks and everything is fine. I believe their can be 3 major factors that could result in the off dates:
1. Late Ovulation
2. Late Implantation
3. The ultrasound itself has a margin of error between 3-5 days.
Also was a heartbeat heard? Yolk sac seen? How does the gestational sac look? Did they say anything else?

MY LAST CYCLE STARTED ON THE 18TH OF APRIL, I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL RECENTLY AND THEY SAID THEY SEEN A SAC BUT NO BABY. 4 DAYS LATER I HAD ANOTHER U/S AND THERE WAS AN EMBRYO, I MEASURED 5 WEEKS AND 3 DAYS BUT WHEN I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL THEY SAID I WAS MEASURING 5 WEEKS 6 DAYS. SO I GUESS IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE OFF, THEY ARE TREATING ME AS A THREATENED MISCARRIAGE DUE TO SOME SPOTTING BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW I'M 6 WEEKS AND 6DAYS. I HOPE THIS PREGNANCY HAPPENS, I WAS AT EASE WHEN THEY SAID THERE WAS NO BABY AND THE MISCARRIAGE WOULD HAPPEN ON ITS OWN, THEY SAID TO GET READY TO MAKE PLANS FOR A D&C BUT JUST 4 DAYS LATER THERE THE EMBRYO WAS. AND NOW AFTER SEEING THAT I JUST DON'T WANNA LOSE IT.

If you are having heavy spotting with cramps, you probably will miscarry. I just had the same issue. But right away after the miscarriage I got pregnant again. No period in between. So their is hope in case you do have one. I have diabetes, do you have anything like that? It makes miscarriage risk a lot higher.
