Constipation? Metamucil?

I am 9 weeks pregnant and I am finding my constipation hard to deal with even though Im taking in a lot of water and fibre. It doesn't seem to help. Does anyone know if its okay to take metamucil (tablets) during pregnancy?

My doctor gave me a list of things I am allowed to take and Metamucil is on there for constipation.

My doctor told me that there are prenatal vitamins that have stool softeners in them. That might be a good alternative to taking medication.
