Frequency Of Doctor Visits?

How often are the doctor visits in early pregnancy? I saw my doctor to get the blood test results which confirm my dates, I am 8 weeks. He says he wants to see me again at 13 weeks for my "Big OB" appointment, but after that I won't see the OB until I am 21 weeks. Is that normal? This is my third time around, and I remember having to go more often, but maybe I am thinking later in the pregnancy? I am also 35 now which I thought made me higher risk. Anyway, not that I want to see the doc more, just want to be sure baby is getting good care. I also won't get an ultrasound until the 21 week appt, and I know I had had at least three by that point with my last pregnancy. How often is everyone else going? Thanks!

This doesn't sound like regular pregnancy care to me. After your first app't, I believe it's normal to visit the doctor every month until you're about 30 where you'll visit every two weeks and after 35/36 weeks you go in everyweek. I'm sure every dr. has different schedules and routines, but if you're 35 and you don't visit a dr. between weeks 13 and 21...I'd question your dr. Hope you get things figured out! It's important to get good health care when you're pregnant!
