I have been trying to conceive for a long time. This month I took one of those early pregnancy tests that you can take three days before you expect your period. It was positive. Since then I've started cramping and spotting like I have my period. How do I know if I'm pregnant if I think I've gotten my period? I took a second pregnancy test and it was still positive. Please help. I can't get into the doctor's for another week.

You can still have a period when you are pregnant. I had a friend that had her period every month for the first 4 months of her pregnancy. It is more common than people think to have a period, or some kind of bleeding while pregnant. She had a healthy baby and so can you. Do talk to your doctor about this. They should be available on the phone to answer questions like this. If the office staff can't answer your questions, the doctor should be able to get back to you within 24 hours. If they don't think your questions are important, I'd look for a more supportive doctor. You should never have to go without your questions being answered. Don't be afraid to ask. Remember, the doctor works for you.
