Hi Trunda, I'm due next March with #3. I know here in NH they dont give you an u/s until about 20 weeks unless they are worried about something or your high risk. It really stinks! I had an u/s with my first at like 11 weeks because I had no idea when I had gotten pregnant and the thought I could be having twins. So they did it to check the due date. Hope that helps. Good luck! |

I had early u/s's in each of my three pregnancies, but only because I had specific problems going on with each... otherwise I would have only had the 20 week u/s. They didn't do any bloodwork at the first appt, either. At some point they gave me paperwork to take to the lab to have the blood draws done, but I can't remember at which appointment. Actually, my OB wouldn't even see me until I was 8 weeks along with my first! I had PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) with the next two, though, so I had to go in right away when I found out I was pregnant to have Progesterone levels taken. |

I think every docter is just different. I had my first appt. on the 31, and they gave me a pap, took some urine, gave me an ultrasound and let me listen to the heartbeat. [My insurance covered it all] Im getting blood work done next appt. which is on the 28, and im also getting another ultrasound done to see if its a boy or a girl. |

I felt as if I waited for ever! This is my first and I had no problems conceiving, when I told my GP, he didnt confirm it with a urine or blood test, I had my bloods done at week 8 but it was screening for HIV, Hepititis that kind of thing, and I got my U/S at week 12, that was the first time I actually had confirmation apart from the 2 home tests! |

ROXY- How far along are you now? If you just had your first appt 4 days ago, and at your next appt on the 28th you'll see the gender, you must have really had to wait a long time for your initial exam. |

They did all my blood work and took a urine sample at my 5wk appointment. My doctor scheduled an early U/S for 7 weeks...which is pretty common protocol around here. It does seem kinda odd, but maybe your insurance is strict. |
