[Original Post]

Hello all. Had my first Dr appointment today and yeah ended on a not so good note. The ultra sound didnt find anything in my Uteras. I was confirmed pregnant so the Dr isnt really sure whats going on. She said the only thing is it could be too early and I dont see how thats possible when im at least 9 weeks along. Im just lost and confused. I go back Wednesday for some more blood tests. Anything you guys could share with me or past expiriences would be great. Thanks.

I went in thinking I was 6 weeks and I was actually closer to 4. They did an u/s and saw nothing as well. I went in 1 week later and they saw the sac and it wasn't till the 7th week that we saw the baby and the heartbeat. Are you certain about the dates??? I was off by 1 week because I don't keep good track of my periods and I am not very regular. The bloodwork (HCG levels) will really tell you what is going on! Keep us posted and good luck!

Hey there. I truely hope you are just off by your dates. I went throught the same thing 3 years ago and I had what you call a blighted ovam....try googling it for more information. Good luck!!!

MrsShelton217 - March 20th, 2007 1:47 PM

Do you know what your HCG levels are? Your dates COULD be wrong.... but if you are truely 9 weeks you would certianly be able to see the gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole, and heart beat. BUT... if you are only 4 or 5 weeks then you may not see anything. You usualy don't see a gestational sac until 5-51/2 weeks. At 4 weeks all you would see would the the thickened endometrial stripe. Fetal pole shows up around 6 weeks and a heart beat at around 6-7 weeks

Dr. called today and said my hormones were high and should have been able to see the baby so they want me to have a D&C. Im confused...help?

micorazon - March 27th, 2007 9:45 PM

Hi Twisted...I am sorry that things are going the way they are. I have had several miscarriages and I find it wierd that the doctor would suggest a d&c without repeating the ultrasound or hcg test. If you arent cramping or spotting I would ask for another ultrasound or a repeat hcg to see if your numbers are doubling. I didnt think doctors could determine viabilty without a series of hcg levels or repeat ultrasounds. It could be a number of things but you should have them be sure just for your own piece of mind. Good Luck...I am hoping for the best.

crrodgers - March 28th, 2007 12:28 AM

I would definatley have them do another u/s. It doesn't make sense! It seems like the doctor is just assuming! I would ask for a second opinion! Are you still having symptoms? Are you bleeding or cramping??? I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted!

HeavenisMine - March 28th, 2007 1:08 AM

Make sure you get at least one more ultrasound before they even think of touching you! It could be either of these things, hopefully the good things,
- Blighted Ovum, hope to God not
- Just a bad ultrasound, or too early to tell
-Perhaps your dates were wrong?
-ectopic pregnancy? Goodness God forbid that.
I hope it's all good news, keep us posted, so sorry you have to go through this!

MrsShelton217 - March 28th, 2007 2:38 PM

My question... and this should be your question to the doctors... IF they don't see ANYTHING (meaning, no sac, no nothing) then why are they wanting to do a D&C. If there is no sac, there is nothing to remove....

phillygir1 - March 28th, 2007 3:04 PM

I agree MrsShelton217...if nothing is there...what are they cleaning out?

Twisted Whispers - March 29th, 2007 12:46 AM

I have no idea....im so confused everyone. Now im bleeding...this is just one big freakin mystery to me!

falafal0 - March 29th, 2007 3:54 AM

Twisted Whispers, it sounds like you may be miscarrying since you are bleeding. I'm so sorry, I hope for your sake that you're not. Get another ultrasound and ask another doctor - this one seems like he doesn't even care. How are you now, please let us know...?

kimberly - March 29th, 2007 4:51 PM

I am so sorry Twisted Whispers. Sounds like you are probably miscarring. I would still ask for another ultrasound though. Keep your chin up!

micorazon - March 29th, 2007 5:08 PM

Hi Twisted. I would still request another ultrasound. Although the bleeding does make it seem like you may be miscarrying, there are some women who have bleeding throughout their pregnancies. Im sorry that things are not looking too good right now but hoping for the best.

slowpoke01 - March 31st, 2007 12:53 AM

twisted- tell your doc to check for ectopic(tubal) pregnancy. i had one in aug and they couldnt find a sac even when the hcg levels were almost 3000. then i started bleeding and then i started hurting so bad that i couldnt walk. they said that i started bleeding because of the tube being stretched out and thats why i started hurting. take care,
