Every since I was about a month pregnant.. My pee has smelled very very WIERD. it doesnt even smell like urine.. but its VERY strong.. I dunno how to explain it. Its just gross. Does anyone have an explanation on what this is. I read that the pregnancy hormone can make your urine smell different, but i figured it would be gone away by now??? i am 13 weeks...

well, you still have pregnancy hormones, so I guess it is possible for your urine to still smell...I guess I really haven't been paying attention to mine..sorry I couldn't help more.

If it smells really sweet it could be an indicator of high blood sugar...."weird" could be because of something you are eating or it could be bc of your prenatal vitamins. Congrats & good luck!

I noticed the same thing! at first i thought maybe i had an infection or something but I have had urine samples done and nothing. But reading what mommy to be said about the vitamines makes sense. Your not the only one who has odd smelling wee so dont worry:)

Make sure that you don't have a urine infection. Whenever I get them the smell is what I'd like to describe as a "horse pee" smell. Disgusting, but if you've evern been around horses, you will know that smell! Urine smells different in pregnancy, yes, but it should be checked out just in case.

Well it can't be the vitamins because i wasnt even taken any during that time... because i didnt even know i was pregnant.. .and I havent took them in a while b/c i thought they were making me sick... so it has to be an infection of some sort. I havent ate anything out of the ordinary that would make it smell like that.... i am 3 months pregnant and I'm kinda worried.. could an infection harm the baby?

Tammy276 - September 9th, 2006 3:11 PM

YES, and infection could harm the baby if it is not taken care of, so if you think you may have one, get to your doctor and have them check you out...... it could just be from being pregnant, I've noticed that my pee is more darker yellow, even though I am drinking tons more water and it should be lighter....Are you having any other signs of infection like burning when urinating, or the urge to go but then all that comes out is a dribble? Those are good indicator of a uti or bladder infection.

I do know what you mean. It smells different. I smelled it at first during the first month and now I am smelling it again.

I haven't gotten the BFP yet, but yesterday and today I have noticed that my pee smells totally different. Bad. It isn't the vitamins because I have been taking them for months. I don't have an infection either. So, I am hoping I am going to get the BFP in about a week.

Drink lots of water and tell your doctor about the smell...it may just be that your nose is more sensitive now, but it is important for your doctor to make sure it isn't an infection or a problem with blood sugar. Good luck

it could be that your dehyrated too. Your pregnant now so your body needs more fluid. But I am 16 weeks now and every now and then mine smells too. But when you dont drink enough your pee in YELLOW and SMELLS

Hey girls
I was pregnant with babe 1 about year ago and also had this problem it didnot go away that was actualy how I figured I am prgnant again! Its good advice to check for infection anyway since we are more prone to them in prgnancy...

I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now. My ovulation week was Oct 12-18. My pee started smelling weird yesterday, like I had been eating asparagus. Does this mean I could possibly be pregnant?
