I'm 12 dpo and for the last week, I've been having twitches or muscle ticks right where my uterus is. I can even see it twitch so its not in my head. I've been pregnant once and it feels just like when the baby kicks at about 5 mths. I've been doing acupuncture and asked the dr. about it, and he said its the "chi" or energy moving around there. Sounds like a bunch of hocus pocus, but he helped me get pregnant last time, so maybe he's right. Anyway, took a test and a big fat negative, but will try again in a day or two. So glad to hear from someone else who has this wierd thing. It is rather distracting.

I am 9 weeks along and have been feeling this off an on all week. I know it is not gas- I can tell the difference.

The following WebMD link says this feeling starts at 16 weeks, though I wonder if it's possible to start feeling it earlier. I have a doc apt. again this week, so I will ask.

Mom-to-be: Your uterus has grown significantly by now and weighs about 8.75 ounces. Within the next few weeks you may start to feel your baby move, called "quickening." It's often like a gas bubble or subtle fluttering movement. As it happens more regularly, you'll know it's your baby.

OR... even this very website talks about feeling those flutterings early- if it is multiples! Under "Twins Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms" it states the following "Fetal movement early in the pregnancy
There is considerable disagreement among medical professionals as to whether a woman carrying twins is more likely to feel movement earlier. But many moms do claim that those early flutters and flips were their first clue that they might be having more than one."

I just wanted to post a follow up to my original posting. I think this fluttering early on may be just your body going through the normal changes it needs to make for the new baby. I delivered my son at 37.5 weeks and he is now about 18 months old and doing just great! If anyone else is feeling this fluttering early on in their pregnancy, please don't worry! Everyone's body reacts differently to the new pregancy. Hope this helps!

I have a 4 yr old daughter and have been trying to get pregnant for over 2 yrs now. I am on clomid and had an HCG shot on 11/5, 2 days later I have the exact same thing. Felt like an eye twitch in my uterus. It might just be the hormones because I never felt it before. It lasted a few days for a few seconds each time, Wish I knew what it was.

hi. i know this post is from forever ago but i have a question about it too. im not pregnant, not that i know of at least, but for the past 2 weeks or so i occassionally get this fluttery feeling only it feels like someone is tapping their fingers really fast and really lightly all around my belly button. it doesnt happen all the time but ive never had it before. i know if could be gas but like....ive had gas before and i know what that feels like? i dont know im just getting nervous cause i was extrememly nauseous all day yesterday and today and my last "period" was extremely light and brownish which isnt the usual for me. any thoughts would be nice. thanks :)

Minoosh! I can't believe you came back to this page! Congrats on the birth on your little boy. I had a little boy also, he's 17 months now! I came back to this page because we have been trying again, and this time I have been getting some cramping around poss implantation...we'll see.

And to everyone reading this post-this twitching/fluttering we are talking about was clearly a reaction that out bodies had to implantation and nothing else. It lasted about 3 days, and then the pregnancy test was positive after implantation was complete.

hi minoosh

I too have felt the fluttering in my lower abdomen. And I definitely know it wasn't in my head. It also kind of tickled. Tho I know it wasn't the baby yet, I still felt it.

It is possible to feel the baby move at 8=9 weeks. Im 8 weeks pregnant with twins and this is my third pregnancy, my second was a misscarriage at 5 weeks with a blightened ovum. I was at an ultrasound and the tech got a bump and lost her place on my uterus and she looked at the screen and they were moving like crazy. If its your first baby, you wont know what to expect untill about 18 weeks when you can determine gas or baby. But like i said, not impossible.
