I am 9 wks also and have gained 4 lbs. Really I should had only gained 2 lbs at this point. I went to dr. yesterday and they gave me a handout on weight gain - first three months you should gain about one lb. per month and during the last 6 months of pregnancy you should gain about one lb. per week.

It is a little higher than what is considered normal. You should have gained at most only a pound or two at 9 weeks- the baby and your uterus are still pretty tiny. However a lot of women retain water weight in their first trimester - that's part of the reason why they feel so bloated all the time. Eat healthy, get moderate excercise and really try to watch your salt intake and you should be okay.

If you started out under weight 9 lbs. is probably not that bad. But if you were a normal weight or over weight, you should try and cut back a little. The baby only needs 300 extra calories a day and you can get that in a glass of skim milk and an apple. I am 18 weeks 5 days and have gained 13 lbs. I feel like that is too much for as far along as I am, so I will be watching my intake closely.
