I know a lot of girls who left theirs in and it was fine. They didnt even use any special ones. But it can make the hole stretch a little bit. one girl took hers out and the hole still stretched because she had it for so long. I think it is a preferance thing. I have one also and am 4 weeks pregnant but I think i'll just wait and see and if it bugs me then I'll take it out. good luck to u! |

I had mine in until I was about 24 weeks, then my obgyn told me I had to take it out - he said if it got infected, it could potentially harm my baby. My hole did stretch quite a bit though. (plus, I had to take it out for ultrasounds, and it was very hard to get back in with my belly being so tight) That was about 2 1/2 years ago, and the hole is still there (I never put it back in) |

My husband insisted I take it out 2 weeks ago. I'm now 4 months. It feels weird not having it there. Instead there's a hole that I'm always fidgeting with now. It looks funny! |

Hi Anna-Marie. My friend just had a baby and had her belly button pierced. She took hers out by choice though. Another person I know left hers in until she gave birth because your not suposed to have jewlery in i dont think. But As far as a special ring. Get a "retainer". Its like an acrilic plastic stuff that moves. You could also get a flexable acrilic. But the retainers are longer so it gives you more room to move around with it sence your belly gets bigger. If you have a store called "Oodles" around you thats where i got mine. I dont know if they have those where you are though. Its a dollar store. Heres a cheap one on ebay to get you jump started on your search. Good luck! |

Honestly... I would take it out... I left mine in until about 26 weeks and I wish I would've taken it out sooner. I've got HORRIBLE stretchmarks around it from where the ring stretched out the skin. NOT PRETTY... haha. I did have a flexible one in there before I took it out... I got it for $3 at bodycandy.com. So if you're insisting on keeping it in, I would suggest getting one of those, they're cheap and come in cool colors. How long have you had your belly ring? I had mine for 2 years before I took it out, and it hasn't closed up at all. About once a week I'll run the ring through it just to check. So, if you want to take it out, but don't want it to close, just run the ring through it every couple days and you should be fine. |

Also... to give you an idea of how much the hole stretches... I'm 38 weeks right now... and the hole opening measures almost 3/4 of an inch!! And my stomach hasn't even gotten that big (no one thinks I'm as far along as I am). I can't imagine what it looks like on women who get REALLY big stomachs! I don't know how people keep it in their whole pregnancy, cause even when I just run the bar through it it looks NASTY... haha... |

I have had my belly button pierced for 8 years. I took it out earlier in my pregnancy and started to miss it so I put it back in. Which was a little painful because it had started to heal. I don't wear it all the time because my clothes are tighter and it looks funny but I still put it in at night and when I'm around the house to keep the hole open. I use the same bar that I had before I was pregnant. It's a bigger gauge not one of the cute dangle ones. |

Here's a suggestion for you. I've had my navel peirced for about 10 years, when I got pregnant with my daughter 2 years ago, I didn't want to have to take it out, so when I was about 32 weeks along my doctor suggested using dental floss. I doubled it up a couple of times so it was thicker, but all you have to do it thread it through the hole that your navel ring would usually go through and then tie it to itself to make a hoop/loop out of it. It's flimsy so it's not uncomfortable, but at the same time it will retain the hole so that you can put your jewlrey back in after you deliver. It worked for me! |

THE SKIN CAN HEAL AROUND AND THREW THE DENTAL FLOSS LAYERS! NOT A GOOD IDEA. ALSO IT IS VERY PRONE TO INFECTION DOING THE STRING OR FLOSS TRICK. |

I don't understand how it could start to close after 8 years of having it done. I've only had mine for 2 years, and mine hasn't closed at all, and I've had it out for 3 months! |

I am also pregnant (19 weeks) with a belly/navel ring (homemade 10 years ago). Even if it is still confortable (and my belly really popped!), since the ring is really small (Gauge 16 8mm in diameter) I will reme it to play safe and avoid any potential complication. I found a great solution to keep the hole open, I will use a threader earring (remember 15 years ago they were trendy!) they are now back in stores(and very tacky IMO). Anyway, it's a small sterling silver chain (5 inches long) with a rigid end (1cm long), so you can insert it like a shoe lace. I bought mine from the internet because they were really cheap compare to the stores (2$ VS 50$ OK it was gold, but I don;t care!!). Check it out at www.silvershake.com, I personnally prefer the "box chain" type I think it will be more confortable. |

Hey Anna Marie! I have mine pierced, the first time I didnt take it out until I went to the hospital and had to have an C-section. It did fine I even had my pregnancy pictures done with it in. I still have it and it looks great, I plan on leaving this one in as long as I can threw this pregnancy, I have heard dental floss tied in a double loop works and doesnt pull at the skin because you can make it as big and loose as you want if you are worried about stretch marks, but I think its all in how you carry you baby... if you get them or not, I havent seen pregnancy belly rings if you find um let me know!!! |

Alright this message is for Heather. What are you talking about "THE SKIN CAN HEAL AROUND AND THREW THE DENTAL FLOSS LAYERS"? I don't know if you actually ready my post or not, but it says I've had my navel ring for 10 years!! I'm not talking about putting dental floss in, right after you've had it peirced. I'm simply saying use it for the last couple of weeks during your pregnancy. My doctor is the one who suggested it to me, and I doubt she would have suggested it, if it wasn't safe. I've done it for my previous 2 pregnancies (and have never had a problem) and I plan on doing it again during this pregnancy! Anna Marie, don't listen to Heather. It's perfectly safe, and you can do it if you want to. |
