I have to vent. My friend was about five months preggo she's had sonograms and Heard the baby's heartbeat. She started having labor pains, bleeding, and contractions; She went to the doctor and found out her baby was dead. And her starting labor was everything trying to get out of her. This is why I am angry. first of all how did she hear a heartbeat? She found out (by the doctor) that the baby only lived to be 11 weeks. she was five months into her pregnancy mind you and the sonograms were only her placenta moving? Doctors couldn't detect this? They told her to go home there wasn't anything they could do just give birth and throw it (the baby) away! or flush it! who says that?!? When it finally happened she couldn't throw it away so then the doctor says put it in the freezer and I'll test it. It just makes me afraid to put the life of my baby in the hands of "doctors" like that. Then I read someones post about how every doctor she went to told her she wasn't preggo but then nine months later. Really people it makes you think!

Gosh, I would just go crazy with this doctor. I smell a LAW SUIT!! What kind of doctor tells you to give birth yourself.... This is just crazy.... This doctor needs to repremanded.... and I'm a Nursing student!!

What! That is crazy. I cant imagine them telling her to go home and throw the baby away. How awful!! I know she is probably extremely upset right now, but you should tell her she needs to call a lawyer. Something is fishy here....

I've heard of people having miscarriages at a few weeks and the docs telling them there is nothing they can do and to stay home...but 5 months?? OMG I can't even begin to imagine!

I think I would take legal action against that quack; he should not be allowed to practice.

That story has way too many holes, you have misunderstood it or you're full of shit. I smell something.

Nice Try - September 14th, 2005 2:14 AM

Or your friend's nose is growing.

I dunno, this sounds very likely. I've been to Doctors that are careless and inconsiderate. There are times when I've left the office thinking, "what the h*ll was that!" It doesn't surprise me at all to hear a story such as this. Doctors are smart, but not always genius. They are human and make mistakes, and some are even inhumane about them. Personally, I would sue the crap right out of that doctor. Get his license revoked, and his practice shutdown. What he did was extremely unethical. Seems like too tall of a tale to be made up. Maybe some facts are left out, but this probably is the jist of it!

Nice Try - September 14th, 2005 2:41 AM

I'm not saying doctors know it all and never make mistakes. I'm just saying there's far too many holes and the most incompetent doctor in the world couldn't be this far gone.

Tracy - September 14th, 2005 7:58 AM

to nice try- obviously, you've never heard about that dr who was suspected ( and later proved) of poisoning his fellow workers, yet was allowed to keep his medical license and was even given a letter of recommendation to another hospital! Or about plastic sugeons who have maimed their victims for life, but still have their licences to practice. The sad fact is, there are many incompetant or wack job drs out there who remain practicing drs because of the difficulty in getting their licences revoked!

Tracy, of course, most OB-GYN can't tell the difference between a fetus and placenta. It's also normal to hear a heartbeat on a deceased baby. Give me a break. It's fishy to me too.

Sad Mama - September 14th, 2005 6:24 PM

I swear this is what she really went through! She was preggo for about five months but had lost the baby at about two so it was only as big as like a childs hand. . trust me she is very upset with this. Why would any one make this up? That is just cruel. they went to the doctors today and brought the baby in so it can be tested to see exactly what caused this. There may be "holes" in the story but do you really want every gory detail?!? Please I'll spare you I was just simply sharing with you my friends ordeal. I'm sorry. But anyways yeah I didn't understand why her doctor didn't do what they normally do when someone miscarrys scrape it out right? I didn't understand that at all that's why I was so frustrated. It's a very tramatic thing that she went through! I'm gonna cry!

MJM - September 14th, 2005 6:38 PM

I had a miscarriage when I was 14 wks preg. The baby passed away at about 10 weeks. We did not hear the heart beat at my 8 wk appt but that is not that uncommon. When we found out I was starting to miscarry the Dr advised me to go home and let "nature" take its course. However I went back in because I was bleeding so horribley. He even told me he has never seen such heavy bleeding during a miscarriage in his 16 yrs of being a doctor.. So I understand the whole go home and let things happen but after that I dont know what the hell this doctor was doing. Plus if she miscarried at fetal developement of 11wks there really wouldnt be anything recognizable in the "baby" sense. And to tell you the truth if the baby only lived to be 11wks then she was not 5 mo preg. Usually the body "disposes" of this within a month. All anything would look like anyway is clots. So I dont see this story being 100% true. What they thought was the baby was the placenta moving. Never heard of such a thing. At that stage there is definately a difference. Anyway I dont 100% believe what you have written.

Nice Try - September 14th, 2005 11:10 PM

No, they don't "scrape" the baby out. Most often, they let it happen naturally. You must be thinking of a d&c, which they can do though. The "holes" have nothing to do with gory details lacking. Your story doesn't make any sense, that's the "holes".

Nice Try - September 14th, 2005 11:15 PM

Why make this up? I don't understand why anyone would, but there are many people who find it amusing to post lies. I don't find it so funny, because I've had family and friends lose babies. Unless the doctor was in second grade, it does not add up, sorry.

Kris - September 14th, 2005 11:25 PM

My mom had 2 teeth totally destroyed by a dentist who was suppossedly really good. Now he has been found to be a coke addict and had his practise shutdown. I know this has nothing to do with pregnancy..but it just shows you how stupid some of these "professionals" are.

Nice Try - September 14th, 2005 11:36 PM

I know there are bad doctors, can't argue that. The thing is, that dentist knew difference between gums and teeth though, right? That's just the tip of the iceberg with this 'doctor'.
