I am 16 weeks pregnant and I like to heat up my bed with an electric blanket. Normally I turn off the e.b. once I climb into bed, but last week I accidentally fell asleep with the e.b. on (on high). It only took me an hour to wake up feeling really hot, and I turned it off, but now I'm worried that I may have harmed the baby? Any thoughts?

Hi....I have never heard of that being harmful, but then again there is lots of things I learn everyday! If there is no warning on the tag about using the blanket & being pregnant......I wouldn't worry. But if you have any second thoughts about it just call up a doc. ~Good~Luck~

It is important not to raise your body's core temperature.Mention this at your next prenatal exam.

I am fretting about that very thing--I never knew it was dangerous until I woke up sick. I am 7 weeks and have been doing research. If you raise your core body temp, there can be neural tube defects...My doctor said I have nothing to worry about, but I can't help but worry. If you hear anything, please let me know!! Thanks.
