Amberlys mom...THAT IS FANTASTIC! It must be such an amazing feeling to see this miracle happening inside of you. I've started my cycle yesterday and will start prometrium later this month AGAIN. I'm praying that this will be my month. CHEERS to you with a VIRGIN margarita!

HI THERE , I TOO AM ON THE 200MG BUT I'M TAKING IT 3X A DAY .THIS IS MY FIRST AND I RECENTLY WAS BLEEDING AND NOW I'M SPOTTING .CAN YOU HELP ME I'M WORRIED

HANNAHSMOM05 - February 12th, 2007 7:41 PM

Hi Lina71,
Taking 200mg 3x a day might seem like alot, but are you taking it orally or vaginally? I take 400mg suppositories 2x daily and prometrium by mouth 1x daily at night. I am 51/2 weeks pregnant and this will be my 2nd child. I am seeing an awesome fertility doctor and he assured me that spotting could occur with progestrone if you insert the suppositories too far and it scratched the cervix. If you are not taking these vaginally maybe your dosage it too high, I would call your doctor to be safe.

Good evening...I too have had the wonderful experience of prometrium! During my first pregnancy I got pregnant ok but started spotting only 3 days after my hpt. So they put me on it once a day vaginally for my first trimester. My son is now 2 1/2 and I am trying to get pregnant again. I have a known luteal phase deficiency and have been trying for 4 months. Just the other day my doctor (a family friend) put me on the prometrium to start on day 17. Hopefully all of my efforts this week will have worked as I start my "yellow M&M" on Thursday. It worked great the first time, but the only difference is that they are putting me on it twice daily vaginally whereas last time it was once in the morning. I am all in favor of prometrium...the more the merrier. Good luck to all and let me know if you have any similar experiences!

Amberlys Mom - February 19th, 2007 12:11 AM

Good luck Jonelle! Well I am 12 weeks today everyone, I have reached a milestone! I go to the doc on Wed, and from what I hear, I am done with the Prometrium then. For anyone in doubt about this medicine, TAKE IT!! After 2 miscarriages back to back, it got me to where I am with this pregnancy, and Its worth it!! Love and baby dust to all

CheChe - February 20th, 2007 2:26 PM

hi all. I have been unsuccessful at carrying a child to term, I have had 3 miscarriages all before 6 1/2 weeks. I seem to have normal cycles 29-30 days, what seems to be the problem? I have no problem getting pregnant its keeping the pregnancy. do you think prometrium can work for me? I also wanted to know about vaginal suppositories versus the oral ones, and has anyone of you used the progesterone cream pump bottle? I will be trying to get pregnant again here very soon. my doc said she would start me on vaginal suppositories as soon as I get a positive on a HPT. I read somewhere that by the time I confirm pregnancy that it would be to late to start a progesterone supplement, and the pregnancy would fail. HELP!!!

Chantal - February 20th, 2007 2:57 PM

Hi Che Che...what I was reffering to in my postings is that...I would wait until I was 1 week late before doing a test with all my other pregnancies...then, when it was positive I would call my Doctor (here in Canada) and it would take me another week sometimes 2 before I could see him to prescribe Prometrium, it was too late at that time. FOR ME...I need the bullets when the implantation takes place. I am now ovulating...yay! This is the first ovulation kit that has worked for me in the past 4 months...so, I'm really excited this time. In 2 days I will start administering the prometrium and then I'll do a pregnancy test on March 4th. I would suggest you talk to your Doctor about all the success of these ladies here and taking vaginal prometrium early and WE TOO will be successful!
Good luck this month!

minkey - February 20th, 2007 2:59 PM

CheChe -- prometrium ABSOLUTELY can work! I am living proof. I was exactly like you -- absolutely no problems getting pregnant, just problems staying pregnant. After my first miscarriage, I got pregnant again right away and started prometrium around the 4th or 5th week -- one week after a positive HPT. My doctor said I could choose to take the pill orally or vaginally; I opted for vaginally because I'd read it works better. I had already started spotting when I started the prometrium, but after ONE DOSE, the spotting stopped! I am now 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. TRY IT! It may not be too late to start taking it after a positive HPT; it wasn't for me, nor was it too late for a lot of other women who've posed on this page. Good luck!

CheChe - February 20th, 2007 4:08 PM

Hi Chantal and Minkey, thanks for responding. I sure hope your right, because I am scared to death of having another miscarriage. I don't think I could handle another 1. I have had my eyeballs glued in every article or website I can find with information about miscarriages and the use of I still dont quite understand if my luteal phase is long enoughusually 13 or 14 days, then why would my progesterone levels be low? could there be some other causes as to why I can't carry to term? by the way, I started a cycle of clomid today and was wondering if its safe for me to take robitussin while im taking the clomid? Also my doc told me to take baby asprin 81mg a day?

minkey - February 20th, 2007 4:17 PM

CheChe - My advice would be to see if you can get your progesterone tested before you start taking Prometrium and then again several days after you start taking it. That should tell you whether or not the Prometrium is working (my level was at 10 before, and jumped to 21 after five days on Prometrium). If your progesterone level doesn't go up once you start the prometrium, that might be a sign that there's another reason why you miscarry. I don't know anything about clomid or the baby asprin, although I've read that both are very common ways of trying to ensure a pregnancy sticks. Wishing you good thoughts for a healthy pregnancy!

CheChe - February 20th, 2007 6:31 PM

Is microgest the samething as Prometrium? I called my Doc to see if I can get in to see her early in order to get my HCG tested, but she can't see me until the middle of March. I did some searching and noticed that on some sites you can buy microgest, or prometrium online. would you suggest that or do you know of anyone who has bought prescriptions such as the two mentioned online?

minkey - February 20th, 2007 9:07 PM

CheChe: I didn't buy my Prometrium online; my doc gave me a prescription that I just had filled at Walgreens. I've never heard of microgest but a quick internet search might clear up if it's just another brand name for synthetic progesterone? You can also by natural progesterone; there's a website called The Compounder; just Google that name and you'll find their website. I'm pretty sure you can order the natural progesterone cream online from them. That is HORRIBLE that your doctor can't just call in bloodwork for you; is there a hospital or clinic you can go to instead? Getting your HCG and progesterone tested are just simple blood tests. You should absolutely insist on getting the blood work done; you shouldn't need an office visit to get your blood drawn and tested for your HCG and progesterone. It's shocking how un-proactive some doctors are, especially for women who've had multiple miscarriages. You definitely have to be pushy and look out for yourself! Hang in there!

Chantal - February 21st, 2007 9:02 AM

Hi Minkey and Che Che....How frustrating to not be able to see the Doctor when you are considered "high Risk". I truly believe that this is the reason why I miscarried 6 times...aside from having issues that were cleared up; the Doctors in Canada, treat infertility issues as though your a hypochondriac! Che Che...you have to go to a clinic and demand blood work; unless you call your Doctor and request to speak with her. You have to be pro-active and take charge of your body because only YOU care the most about what's going on. That's what I learned lately...(Sorry for venting) Good Luck, Che Che with getting your blood work; and let us know what the outcome is!

jonelle - February 21st, 2007 4:57 PM

OK...here is a question for all: When you start taking prometrium on day 17 of your cycle and you are not pregnant, do you still get a normal period or does it prevent a normal menstrual cycle? This is the first time taking prometrium on day 17. In my last prenancy they never started me on it until I was definitely pregnant and spotting. So this whole proactive thing is still new to me. If anyone has any input let me know because tomorrow morning I start the lovely yellow pill that we are all familiar with. Good luck to all:)

Chantal - February 21st, 2007 5:03 PM

Hi Jonelle, Prometrium will naturally stop you from having your cycle. But, when it's aprox. time for your cycle you'll be doing a test / blood is preferred. If it's negative you stop the PILL and you should start your period in a few days. If it's POSITIVE...you're in business girl! You continue taking it until the Doctor says to stop! GOOD LUCK!

jonelle - February 21st, 2007 5:07 PM

Thanks Chantal...I have never done it this way before! I am really hopeful, but don't want to get my hopes too high in case it doesn't happen again. Did you do it this way too and have success? This will be my 4th month trying but the first one with the prometrium. I have a luteal phase deficiency...so this should help. Let me know if you too have done it this way and got lucky:)
