Hey there SarahMarie...join the group! Isn't prometrium fun? I took it with my first pregnancy after I knew I was already pregnant and spotting. More than likely you will be like all the rest of us and have to continue through your first trimester. I had to take it up until 13 weeks and then I could stop it. It truly worked and I have a beautiful 2 1/2 year old to prove it. I am currently trying to get pregnant again and having difficulty. They now have put me on the promtrium starting day 17 of my cycle to see if it helps me stay and get pregnant. This is my 5th month trying and no luck yet. Today is day 11 for me, so in 6 more days I get to do the vaginal suppositories twice a day. You know what I will be doing over the next 5-6 days:) Hopefully this will be my month and I can move forward. Wish me luck:) As far as the no sex thing in the first trimester I was never told that...however, I was WAY TOO sick to even want it...more power to you girl! Let me know how you are feeling and I will be here to help where I can...talk to you soon!

Well ladies, its been a short visit for me, I miscarried for sure. Went to the hospital last night since I had terrible back pain, kinda like labor pains, and the bleeding increased in volume. They did a u/s and they didnt see any gestational sac, and my hcg went from 600 last tuesday, to 305 on thursday and last night in the hospital its 117. So i didnt have to have a dnc, since all my hormone levels are decreasing back to normal. This was my first miscarriage, and hopefully my last. I dont know if im at risk of having them in the future. So good luck to you all, and stay safe.

I am looking for some advice and I came across this thread. I thought you ladies might be able to helpe me out. I am currently 5 or 6 dpiuis (whichever one we want to count... anyways I just went to the bathroom and when I wiped it was pink!! I am a little nervous because wouldn't it be too early for implantation bleeding? I haven't been feeling right all day - on a off lighted headedness and feeling very tired. What do you ladies think? I have also been using progesterone suppositories and don't know if this could be a side effect.... from what I understand using these suppositories would not make this happen - they can actually make af late..... do you think this maybe implantation bleeding??

Good Morning All. Well, today is the day that I start the prometrium. Today is day 13 of my cycle and I'm set to take it from today through the 26th day of my cycle. Since I don't really have a day 26 of my cycle because that's day one of a new cycle for me, I'm curious to see if the prometrium will increase my cycle length. We'll see. I plan on taking the prometrium at night after reading so many posts about how sleepy it makes you. I truly need to be able to function during the day. Hopefully that goes well. I pray that the prometrium is what's going to do the trick for me!

jonelle - March 20th, 2007 2:54 PM

Greetings to all! I am getting ready to start my prometrium on Thursday...hopefully this will be my month. But, the one question that I had for all of you is this: I have been off my birth contril pill for 6 months and have been on the prometrium supplements for 3 rounds now...do any of you notice an increase in headache since being off the birth control pill with all of this hormonal up and down? I have been getting an increased number of opthalmic migraines where I will get a spot in my eye that won't go away and then I get incredible pressure in my eye and a dull headache that I can't kick. This recent one has lasted me the past 3 days...UGH! My doctor seems to think that it is also related to hormones and the lack thereof. I was just wondering if any of you were experiencing this as well. Let me know...I have to get busy later as it is day 15 for me and I had a positive LH surge 2 days ago...so hopefully my little egg is there and ready! Keep me updated and continued best wishes!

Chantal - March 21st, 2007 3:54 PM

Hi Jonelle; You're not just getting busy NOW are ya? We've been doing the DEED every second day since I finished my period...we're now on day 11. Things are going really well with the metformin which is really regulating a lot of stuff for me including my cycles. I finished taking the CLOMID last Sunday and now I should be ovulating this coming Saturday! So this is our WEEK of getting BUSY!!! About the headaches....yes...I got those last month BIG TIME. But now that my hormones are regulated, I'll be curious to see if I get them again. Feeling very positive for us this time Jonelle! It's OUR month!!!

paulam - March 22nd, 2007 9:41 PM

Hello Ladies,

I started the prometrium this week. So far not too much trouble. It does make me sleepy so taking it at night was a good idea. Today I noticed that I had what felt like mild...very mild...af cramps. I think that was one of the side effects, but I hope they don't get worse.

jonelle - March 23rd, 2007 9:17 AM

Greetings to all my friends. I haven't been on in a few days becuse I have had a migraine that has been with me since Sunday...yeah...on and off and yesterday I ended up at my neurologists office. I suffer from the normal classic migraine with aura, but this time I am having cluster migraines. Totally different but still as bad. I am on day 19, so I have been on the prometrium for 2 days now and won't be due for the period until april 1-2. They really wanted to give me an updated MRI yesterday but once my neuro doc talked to my ob/gyn they made me go for a blood test. Well...that came back negative but my ob/gyn said that I could be so early pregnant that it wouldn't show up on a blood test yet. So, they are making me go back for a bloos test on April 1st...ha ha April fool's day...and if it is positive then I am living with the horrible headaches that I did with my first pregnancy. If it is negative then I will get the full MRI work up! YUCK:) But anyway, did any of you experience these wicked headaches after stopping the pill and doing this hormonal up and down thing with the prometrium. This headache has been different for me because I have this one stationary spot in the center field of my vision that will not go away. I have had them before but they will last 8 or so hours and then go away...this one I have had since Sunday!!! The doc assures me that many people complain of this and that there is no medical explanation other than doing an MRI to make sure that nothing is going on...but for I am at a catch 22 because we don't know if I am pregnant to have that test. I am very frustrated and worried...some feedback would be great from all of my friends on here. How is everyone else doing...think about you guys all the time! This is our month guys...talk to you all soon and thanks for listening to me vent!

minkey - March 26th, 2007 7:09 PM

Hi Jonelle -- bless your dear heart! It's not bad enough to have to go through the emotional ups and downs of all this. To have migraines on top of it is just cruel. A girlfriend of mine has had horrible migraines through all 3 of her pregnancies and her docs say it's normal. Blah! If you're going to have a migraine, hopefully yours is pregnancy releated and nothing else! Keep us posted; thinking of you.

Chantal - March 27th, 2007 9:08 AM

Hi Jonelle! How are you doing now? Have you seen the Doctor again. Please let us know how you are doing. Like Minkey said, hopefully your headaches are pregnancy related!!!
Today is day 18 for me and I started the prometrium this morning :YAY!....yuk...but that's ok. Between being on metformin, clomid, my prenatal vitamins, folic acid, calcium supplements and iron supplements....what's ONE more DRUG to help me conceive! I must say that last night before going to bed and removing my bra...it felt like someone bit my nipples! I never had this feeling in the past months only sore breasts and that's another prometrium sign...so, please keep all your fingers crossed for me and my friend Jonelle this month!

jonelle - March 27th, 2007 9:39 AM

Hey Chantal and all of my other friends... Hope your week is going well:) Today is day 22 for me! My migraine stopped...keep the fingers crossed...I have to go to the doctors office on Monday for a blood test. If it is negative then I get the MRI for my head...if it is positive then I am good to go:) The only thing that I have been noticing in addition to the boob swelling is the past two nights...so on day 20 and 21 I have had period like cramping at night when I am sleeping. It feels as though my period is right around the corner....it lasts about 30 minutes or so and then it goes away. I am not sure what this is? Did you or anyone else get this? I am really anticipating Monday, but am not thinking about it so I don't get my hopes up. Can't wait to talk again soon...let me know what else is going on with you all!

Amberlys Mom - March 27th, 2007 11:52 AM

Janelle, I got that kind of cramping when I was first pregnant. Got it off and on for weeks. Doc said it was my uterus changing and not to worry. Good luck my friends, this is your month! Thanksgiving babies! how awesome that would be....

minkey - March 27th, 2007 12:22 PM

Hey Jonelle: glad to hear you're feeling better with the headaches! Yes, I got that period like cramping in the very beginning of my current pregnancy. Scared me to death because it does feel like you're about to get your period! But your doc is right -- that feeling is usually just uterine stretching and/or implantation. So fingers crossed for you and Chantal!

Paula79 - March 27th, 2007 4:10 PM

Hey all-- i am new here and would like some input on my situation. I am sorry ahead of time for this being lengthy. Found out 3/19 that I am preganant--according to LMP, I am about 6 and 1/2 weeks. Saw MD the day I found out because I had been spotting for 2wks prior (since 3 days after ovulation). I had been on Clomid for 5 cycles but had stopped and got pregnant on the 1st cylce off Clomid!! I have now been spotting >3wks--heavier at times than others but never anything on my pad--just when I wipe--varies from brown, rusty, bright red, sometimes small clot or two. Yesterday 3/26 went to md again--f/u US done showed increase in size of sac from last week but not as much as they hoped, although he said what is normal varies this early. Was started on Prometrium 100mg 2xday by mouth to try to stop the bleeeding although my progesterone level was 24 (good) last week--md says i will pee off what I dont need and it couldn't hurt anything. hcg levels quadrupled in 48hrs last week but not checked this week--md says hcg also given off by placenta and sac, not just baby. md is concerned because we still did not see the baby yesterday (6 and 1/2 weeks) and he still says that it is 50/50 right now whether I will stay pregnant. I have several questions--has anyone started prometrium because of heavy spotting and how long did it take to slow it or stop it and how far along were you when you started. Also, I do not ovulate like a normal day 14er--I ovulated about a week later--so am I correct in thinking that my baby would be a week behind a normal 6 and 1/2 weeker because it did not get started until later and that we may not have seen it because it is comparable to the size of a 5 and 1/2 weeker and may have been to early to see it and its heartbeat?--MD says he wants to see the heartbeat next Monday and that if not, high chance of blighted ovum. I am worrying myself sick--please give feedback :)

minkey - March 27th, 2007 4:20 PM

Hi Paula79: I started prometrium because my progesterone was low (10) -- but I was also spotting. I had just started to spot -- about 3 days of spotting -- when I started the prometrium. I started prometrium at about 5 to 6 weeks pregnant (5 or 6 weeks since LMP). After one dose of prometrium, the spotting stopped. My doctor thinks the spotting was implantation bleeding, but I *KNOW* it was the low progesterone. One tip -- you might try using the prometrium as a vaginal suppository, rather than swallowing it. You can use it either way (confirm with your doctor), but I read on a lot of online web forums (including this one) that women had better luck with prometrium when used vaginally rather than swallowing it. But your progesterone level sounds good -- 24 is very solid and out of the danger zone. And if your HCG is going up, also a very good sign. With my first pregnancy, they didn't see the baby until I was 7 weeks pregnant, which I was told was normal -- so not seeing it yet by 5 1/2 weeks is still probably ok. I did go on to miscarry that pregnancy, but again -- I *KNOW* it was because I had low progesterone and wasn't put on prometrium. Sounds like you're doing everything you can to help this pregnancy. Hang tight and keep us posted; we'll be thinking of you!

debc - March 28th, 2007 12:10 AM

Hi Paula,
I just started Prometrium tonight- 200 mg per capsules, I am to take two capsules by mouth at bedtime. The reason I was put on them is because my progesterone level dropped from 16 at wee 3-4 down to 10 yesterday. I will ask my doctor tomorrow is suppository dosing is better than by mouth-- does anyone know this?
Anyway, to address your concerns, I had my first sonogram yesterday, I was supposed to be 6 weeks on the dot, but they could only make out what they "thought" might be the fetal pole--too small to really measure--no heartbeat. I was bummed. I was told that pregnancy dating can definitely be off by as much as 10 days, so they are thinking I am only 4 1/2- 5 weeks along based on the sack. I have been spotting for 4 days, very tiny amounts once a day, just when I wipe, it is brown. They called it old implantation blood being released. I don't know. I am anxious, like you. I cried a lot today when I found out I dropped to 10. But what I really wanted to tell you is: YES, pregnancy dating can be off, so do not sweat it until you have your next ultrasound. It is not a perfect science.
Deb
