Good Morning Ladies. I have a question for you all this morning. Has anyone ever taken the prometrium without it causing a delay in the beginning of their next cycle? I take prometrium from day 13 through day 26. Since my cycles are actually only 25 days long, day 26 is really day one of my next cycle. Well, today is day 26/1 and af is here and on time. I thought the prometrium would delay it by a day or two. I am taking 200mg once a day, orally. Anyone use prometrium without any delays? Do you think I'm not taking enough? I've heard of women taking more and didn't know if I should talk to the doctor about upping the dosage or just be a little more patient. |

Good morning Chantal, Paulam and all of my other friends! Let me start by saying that I had another bad month as I got my period this morning! I know...I have cried the tears and said some bad words in my temper but I think that I got it out of my system and am ready for a big glass of red wine...is it 5:00 yet:) Anyway, I just placed a phone call into my doc because my husband thinks that I might need to start the clomid...he is in the medical field too:) But really, with my first child I was only one month away from clomid had I not conceived...so I escaped it the last time but don't think that I am going to be able to this time...this is 6 months now for me with no luck and last time it was only 4...so I think that I about to enter clomid AND prometrium world together! Here's the thing for Paualm...my first month on prometrium my period was only delayed for 2 days after stopping the med...this time I was due today and got it today! I was surprised too because I also thought that it would have delayed it much longer....and I am on even more than you are at 200mg vaginally twice a day. So talk to your doc about it and see what he has to say, but I am right there with you:) Hope that it helped:) And Chantal...my good friend...how do you feel on the clomid? If I am going to start it I want to know all about, and not from the docs or medical lit because they never tell the "whole" truth....I want to know fromk real people and friends who have first hand experience and won't lie to you:):):) I am curious to know...I still have my fingers crossed for you that this is your month! How are you feeling? Please let me know as you are in my thoughts and prayers everyday! Talk to you all soon! Thank you for listening to me vent girls:) |

Hi Jonelle; I'm so sorry to hear that things didn't work out again this month. I can feel your anger and frustrations in trying to figure out the REASONS why. It will happen for you...I just know it! Now about CLOMID...I think it's a wonderful thing for me now because it is helping me build new eggies cuz' all my cysts were causing me not to make new eggs and also because it is regulating my ovulation time too! I did not suffer any of the symptoms they say comes along with taking Clomid such as: headaches, hot flashes, mood swings etc...I stayed incredibly positive while I was taking these meds and was HAPPY every single time I put them in my mouth! I had to take clomid on the 5th day of my cycle for 5 days...after that you ovulate the following week. so, you have to be VERY BUSY during the week prior (every 2nd day). I'll be doing a test this coming Friday the 6th and will post my results once I get confirmation on Monday by blood test. Things might be happening slowly for us but I just keep telling myself that there is a reason why it's taking a little bit longer....and it's a GOOD reason; we just don't know it yet. You are always in my prayers and my thoughts Jonelle! You have nothing to lose by taking clomid; you might just get lucky and have multiples!!! yay! |

Jonelle, thanks so much for the information. My doctor and I discussed taking the prometrium for three months and seeing what happens. My dh and I have been trying to conceive since October 2005. We tried for a year and then went and had tests done. All tests have been normal. So, if the prometrium doesn't do the trick then my doc is going to refer me to an re. I'm prayerful that it will not get to that point. Sorry this wasn't your month either. I managed to keep my temper at bay this morning when I woke up to af, but it was hard. Hopefully the clomid/prometrium combination will do the trick for you and you get your bfp soon! :0). |

Hi, I have a question I hope you all can answer. I have been on prometrium for several months, 100 ml 2x/day. I was not trying to get pregnant...just that my doctor said my progesterone levels were way low. Now I think I am pregnant ... which is a good thing. My question is this...since I was low to begin with, will I probably need to take more then what I am taking now that I may be pregnant? Also, do low progeterone levels cause low hCG levels? Any answers is appreciated. Thanks! |

Hey Chantal and all of my other good friends...good morning! OK...so here is the thing, I need some help answering a few questions. My doctor called me back yesterday and said that he would not put me on clomid just yet!!! Yeah, I was pretty upset. I am due for my annual gyn visit in August so they said that they would see me before that pregnant or that we would discuss things about the fertility issue in August! WOW...I hope that it happens before August. So this is where all of your help comes in. I still have the prometrium to do but it appears as though I need tricks of the trade and hints of how to get pregnant. First question: there is so much controvery between female orgasm and trying to conceive...should you have one or not? I have always not had one when trying to conceive but maybe I am making a mistake. Second: I generally tend to have sex on the day that I have my LH surge and then 2 days later....because they say that once you have your surge you "should" ovulate 24-48 hours later...is this right? Something needs to happen for me and I am getting really frustrated....any other tricks or hints or help that you could all give me would be GREATLY appreciated. You all probably think that I am nuts but then again we all probably are to some degree:) We all shove peanut M&M like things up the hooo haaa to get pregnant...so yes we are all nuts. Love all of you guys and can't wait to hear the responses! Talk to you all soon and fingers crossed for all of you! |

My darling friend Jonelle; I wish I could just pick up the phone and call you!!! OK...I'm no Doctor but I think your not having enough sex! Every person is different with their cycles and I tend to ovulate very early after finishing my period so, we start Doing the Deed on day 5 of my cycle; cuz' I'm usually just about done and we keep going EVERY SECOND DAY until day 20. It hasn't been happening for us either since last October 2006 (7 months). But all other pregnancies (6 of them; which ended in miscarriages) DID WORK by keeping really busy. My husband over produces sperm (yeah...really funny stuff) but the Doctors were stunned at the amount; so, he's good to go that often. Some men can't that much (so it just depends). But, if you can't go that frequently; I'd say try every day once you surge (3 days in a row) if you can! You're bound to do it at the right time then. Gosh Jonelle, I hope I'm not giving you poopy advice...I just want things to happen for you soooooo BAD. When it's close to the surge day for me and a few days after I DON'T orgasm. I heard somewhere that your muscles shouldn't be contracting! But maybe that's just a tale. I will do some research today and get back to you - I promise that I'll reply before noon! |

Hi Mattysmommy2000; I'm really not sure if low progesterone causes low HCG levels. I haven't gotten pregnant yet while on prometrium so, I'm not sure. I do suggest that if you think you might be pregnant to get your buns in to see the Doctor ASAP and have him/her test your progesterone levels immediately. If you are still low then I'm sure you'll have to take more. I take 2 suppositories 3 times a day!!! It will only help us hold the pregnancy in the end. Good luck and let us know if you've got a little one growing in there! |

Hi again Jonelle; Ok, I just called my girlfriend in Ontario who is a nurse for an OBGYN and asked her about "O". She reassured me that it is fine while you are trying to concieve but in HIGH risk pregnancies (which we are) We should NOT "O" once we know that we are pregnant cuz' the muscles of our uterus should NOT contract. Women who don't have issues like us can have intercourse throughout their pregnancies and have "O". We will also have to wait 3 months after we've conceived before having fun! that's ok for me...cuz' I'm so sick of DOING it right now! |

I have a question for anyone this is the first time to do this so bare with me. I am on my 4th round of clomid i had blood work done friday to see if i ovulated. My last blood work was 21.9 progesterone level is that good. My doctor has never done a u/s. I am starting to think I will never get pregnant. I have a 4 year old son so this would be our second. |

Hi mattysmommy2000 - if your doctor already had you on progesterone, then the supplements you have been taking probably helped get you pregnant. But Chantal is right -- have your doctor test your progesterone if you are pregnant. If it's 10 or below, then you should take more for sure. Your doctor can advise how much more -- but be sure to have a follow up blood test of your progesterone once you increase dosage, just to make sure your level is going up. I'm not sure if low progesterone is neccessarily tied to low HCG, but they do seem related. In my first pregnancy which ended in m/c, my HCG was going up but barely; they never tested my progesterone but I'm POSITIVE it was below a 10 and that's why I had the m/c. Other women on this forum have noted a similar pattern, so perhaps they are related? And Jonelle -- sounds like you got some answers to your questions about the O. All I know is that this time when I got pregnant (and stayed pregnant thanks to Prometrium), I did have the big O. And then we quit having sex for basically the whole first trimester because I was freaked out about losing the pg! |

Ok, thanks! I did go in and do a blood test and she can't get me in until the 27th :( I was already low, so I'm thinking that I am probably still low. She also did a pregnancy test which was negative but I'm thinking I am pregnant and maybe my hCG levels are low because of the my low progesterone levels. I think I will just take an extra 100 ml a day until my appt. Has anyone just "adjusted" their level like this? Will it hurt? My doctor says that my progesterone level was the lowest she had ever seen, so I'm thinking that if I am pregnant, that I am still gonna be low. I will let you know what I find out. I think I will take extra for the rest of this week and then do a home pregnancy test.... |

Hi Mattysmommy2000; Taking an extra dosage won't hurt you...you'll just pee out what your body doesn't need. What day are you on in your cycle? I know that if you are very early pregnant that your HCG levels will show very low but it will show a level. If it doesn't show anything that means you really have "negative" HCG's. Are you also taking the prometrium vaginally or orally? That makes a really big difference for a lot of the ladies that have posted here. Vaginally is the way to go...it gets to the source of the problem immediately. Well I hope that you do have a little bean in there; so keep us posted! |

I'm new to all of this. I take the prometrium orally and also a cream in the morning. I don't know about days in cycle...LOL. I was supposed to have my memses on the 24th of March. Would it still be hard for a pregnancy test? How much longer should I wait? Thanks! |
