I'm new to all of this. I take the prometrium orally and also a cream in the morning. I don't know about days in cycle...LOL. I was supposed to have my memses on the 24th of March. Would it still be hard for a pregnancy test? How much longer should I wait? Thanks! |

Also, regarding Folic Acid and my age...i'm 45. I have been taking vitamins on a regular basis with 100% daily folic acid in them. I ran out of vitamins for a short time and went maybe a week without them. Is this still ok as far as birth defects such as downs syndrome? Anyone know? I was pretty regular till I ran out...then a week or too later I got pregnant...at least I am pretty sure I am. Thanks again! |

Okay first, Jonelle, When I was trying to get preggy, I never had a problem. I followed doc's orders (I just never stayed preggy till now). I would do the ovulation tests, and when I would get my surge, I would have sex that day once, the next day like crazy and the third day a couple times. Then, this may sound odd, but have your partner put a pillow under your butt to elevate your hips and have him hold your legs in the air for you (crossed) to hold that good stuff in!! It worked every time for me, 4 times last year alone! The elevation and the leg thing guides the swimmers to the right spot and keeps it from "leaking" out. |

Hi Mattysmommy2000; URGENT information for you my friend. If you are still taking prometrium right now...this could be the reason why you have NOT started your period. Prometrium stops your cycle. You need to get in to see your Doctor TODAY or go to a CLINIC and ask them to take your BETA HCG. You need to know if you are negative or positive either way because if you are negative you need to STOP prometrium right away and start back again after your period. If you are positive then you will probably have to increase your dosage if you are already very low. Your Doctor needs to see you immediately because without having proper information on what is happening with your body....you could risk miscarring! Most women at this forum have had many miscarriages caused by not having enough progesterone; get your answers today!!!Thanks to prometrium it is helping all these women KEEP their pregnancies; and it will help you too! GET THAT BLOOD WORK DONE NOW!...if you did a home test it would show positive by now for sure. |

Mattysmommy2000: On the folic acid front -- as far as birth defects and such, I don't think you need to worry about missing a week. My best friend (shamefully, I know) literally did not take ONE prenatal vitamin her entire pregnancy. Not one. And I know she wasn't drinking any extra orange juice or otherwise paying attention to folic acid intake -- and her son is totally fine. He's 2 years old now and is completely normal and healthy. So I wouldn't sweat missing a week or so; we all have enough to worry about with just trying to keep our pregnancies! |

I am a 28 year old that is pregnant with my thrid child. I had to take progesterone with my son. I am predisposed to low progesterone levels. I am having to take it again. My HCG level is in the 3000's but my second blood test chowed my progesterone dropped to 8.3. I did not start the supplements until after the second test. I am doing good. I had a successful pregnancy ladst time, and I feel the same this time. I praise prometrium. My doctor said that too many women have unnecessary m/c. He said that progesterone therapy has cut his misscarrage rate in half! It does work. It is better to take it vaginally. Oral progesterone bypasses the placenta. There is a chance for others out there. |

First Chantal...you are so funny my friend! I am so going to take advantage of the "O" thing if it helps my uterus dip down and get busy:):):) I am on day 3 of my period so in a couple of days will be getting really busy! I will take any tips or advice that anyone can offer! Amberlys mom....you are hysterical! I am TOTALLY going to do the elevated butt thing this time...I have also heard in the past few days from others that it truly does work...I am all about the pillows:) If it worked for you I am going to stay positive. Mattysmom2000...I hope that you got some good results from your doctor if you did in deed go...we all have trouble getting pregnant and then in turn staying pregnant....so I hope that it works out for you. On the side of prenatal vitamin thing I don't at all think that you havce to worry because with my first son I was so deathly sick from beginning to end that I COULD NOT take the vitamins and he turned out to be and still is the healthiest little kid ever! So stress out over something that small....sweat the big stuff like staying pregnant! I hope that it works for you we are always here:) I will stay in touch with everyone one the weeks "activities!" Oh, and by the way Chantal...my doc won't give me the clomid yet....he said that he will either see me pregnant or in August for my annual...yeah, I think that he is being and pecker head right now but I know that he is brilliant and probably has his reasons! So I will keep you all informed! Love to you all:) |

Ok, I did go in and do blood work. I go in to the doctor next week. I have been on Prometrium for about 6 months now and my cycle has been regular. Haven't missed one or anything. Could it still skip now? I am going to do a home preg test tomorrow and see what happens. Now I'm worried that i'm not pregnant :( |

One more question that has been eating at me. I did have spotting for one day which I took as implantation spotting. Then the next day I had these horrible cramps for about 2 to 3 hours. Would this have been implantation cramps. Do they feel that bad? |

Hi everyone! I posted on the 29th with all of my info. Basically, I had a level of 13.7 at just under 11 weeks. I started prometrium and had my levels checked again on the 5th, the doctors office just called to tell me the levels are 20.9, is that good? I guess I was expecting them to be higher than that. The nurse said the doctor signed off on it but she was going to check with him to see if I need to keep taking them (I hope not, they make me REALLY sick), but if I have to then I most certainly will. Is that level normal or am I still in danger? Please help, anything will be great. Thanks a bunch. Good luck to all. |

Mandy, Well I never was told what my levels were exactly, I didnt want to know. But I do know that most of the time, after 13-14 weeks, they will let you stop taking the prometrium. Once the placenta is formed and the baby is dependant on that, your body takes care of the rest. I guess you dont need the supplement once the placenta is developed. So I bet you will be off it!!! |

Mandy11: You are golden, sister! 20.9 is terrific. Most docs want you to be between 18 and 22 (higher than 22 is fine, of course). And by the 14th week of pregnancy, the placenta takes over and you don't need the Prometrium anymore. I know it's scary to stop; I was scared, too. I phased myself out over a week or so -- took it every other day, then every 2 days, and the stopped entirely. And now I'm 38 weeks pregnant, so don't worry -- you'll be just fine! Congratulations! |

Hey ladies. This is my first time posting. I was put on Prometrium suppositories 100mg/day on Saturday. I miscarried in december and just found out about 10 days ago that I was pregnant again. So I scheduled an early visit with my dr. on Friday, 4/6. She did an ultrasound and there was literally nothing on the screen. Not even a sac. She said I was anywhere from 4-6 weeks based on the first day of my last period. She seemed bothered that the u/s didn't show anything. She sent me for bloodwork and my progesterone level was at 15, my hCG was at 600. I took the prometrium Friday night and went back for more blood tests Saturday morning. I will call later today for the results. I guess my question is, what are the chances that this is a false pregnancy and am I just delaying the inevitable? Has anyone ever had this kind of experience and what happened? |
