minkey, thanks for your reply. you've given me the confidence to demand it. ive mentioned it numerous times to 3 midwifes and one GP and all have given me the brush off, one midwife even said they couldn't measure it before i got pregnant - think she was overwhelmed by the amount i knew and all the questions. no embryos were ever examined as i refused the D & C the 3rd time and the other 2 were so early they said nothing would be there. i am so sure nothing was wrong with them as i had a scan at 6weeks and although there was development it wasn't enough and it slowly decreased till it stopped. it seems strange its always around the same time. think ill also look into acupuncture too. thanks for the advice. good luck to all. xx

Chantal - April 11th, 2007 4:16 PM

Hi Bally280; I also had all my miscarriages around the same time...at 7 to 8 weeks and I've had 6 miscarriages. I never had to have a D&C either because they said it was too early in the pregnancy to do one!??? I think prometrium is what you need also! I take it 3 x a day; so, it's agressive because I have an extremely thin lining. So, demand it...and have your blood checked afterwards to see your levels increase. For me, after all these years...they only just figured all this out and I feel we waisted perfectly CRUTIAL time. I'm in my 4th month of trying to conceive with the help of Metformin to help equalize my blood sugars due to PCOS and also taking CLOMID to increase the amount of eggs and then I take my prometrium on day 17 of my cycle. You need to get this drug into you ASAP and guarentee you won't miscarry EVER again. Just read all these postings and it will encourage you! Good Luck and take care.

bally280 - one more thing: make sure you take the Prometrium VAGINALLY!!! It's prescribed as a pill you can swallow, but if you read this or any other Prometrium in Pregnancy forum -- you'll see that we've all had the most luck taking it vaginally as a suppository. Seems a little strange at first to shove a pill up your vagina that you'd normally swallow, but it goes right to the heart of the matter. And if your doctors/nurse midwives still won't take you seriously and you can't get a prescription for Prometrium, order natural progesterone cream online. It should work just the same -- you just rub the cream onto a different area of your body every day and keep using it through your first trimester. It's INSANE that people like Chantal have had 6 miscarriages due to undiagonsed low progesterone; there is simply no need for that kind of emotional pain and suffering. Go get 'em girl!

bally280 - April 12th, 2007 3:01 PM

Thank you ladies. i'm ready for a fight with the medical profession I think. ive already ordered the tablets online and am just waiting for them through the post - just in case they point blank refuse to give me them. I totally agree it's ridiculous that people have to have something like 6 miscarriages before anyone takes them seriously, or listens to the intuition we have early on. Ive read so many of the posts on here and it seems progesterone supplementation is a god send for some. Thanks for the tip re taking them vaginally and not orally. I'll keep you posted. Thanks. xx

Good evening to all of my friends! I am still being very busy as I am on day 11. Yesterday and today I checked my LH with my OPK and I am just a slight tinge lighter than the reference line...so I think that I am about to surge at any point...which is pretty normal for me because I am usually a 12 day surge. So I got a "deposit" today from my husband before he headed to the hospital for work. I had to do it earlier today to make sure that I got it in! When I told him about all of the comments that my friends online have been giving me about the doggy style thing he laughed hysterically and said that maybe that's why dogs get pregnant all the time! He thinks that he is being a jokester and is really taking this whole issue really well. He knows how upset I get every month with negative results but is being a trooper for me and is being very encouraging. It helps to have good men on our side! Bally280...you are so funny! I am glad that you have joined our little group as we are all here for each other! I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with the leaky problem! Lori9959...we are here for you! With my first son I spotted from day 1 and they put me on prometrium to stop the spotting...and it helped! I took it once a day vaginally for the first 12 weeks...bally280 also...take it vaginally! I can't stress that enough as it gets to the spot quicker! Now trying to conceive again, they have put me on it twice a day vaginally 200mg. So I am getting 400mg a day starting on day 17 and I am hoping that it helps...please keep all of us posted on how you are doing and welcome! To all of my other friends keep plugging away and stay in touch!

Chantal - April 13th, 2007 10:22 AM

Hi Girls! I'm hoping someone can help me with some advice. I only just started my period yesterday after being off of prometrium for a while so counting from my last period until now is 34 days! Eventhough the late start is probably due to the prometrium; HOW do I calculate things for this month? So yesterday is still day 1...but what I mean is, since my last cycle was so long will that affect me to ovulate later this month? ARGHhhh...I'll still purchase an ovulation kit and start my clomid on day 5; so, we'll just have to DO IT every second day. This time I'll make sure we do it in our new position and I'll have an "O" and I won't stop DOING IT until day 30 DARNIT! I have lot's of homework to do eh? *I'm sure Jonelle is just loving this!* Jonelle, did you surge today???

minkey - April 13th, 2007 12:27 PM

Chantal - that is a good question about when to calculate ovulation. But here's what I wonder -- do you HAVE to start the prometrium before your next missed period? Would you still be in the clear if you just waited to start the prometrium until you miss a period? or do your doctors think a fertilized egg won't even implant without a base of prometrium helping it along? So many of us started taking prometrium AFTER we conceived. Is that an option for you? That way you might at least be able to keep track of your ovulation more accurately? Ugh! It's such a dance we do with our hormones! Good luck; thinking of you.

Chantal - April 13th, 2007 12:51 PM

Hi Minkey! thanks for replying! I was taking prometrium after I found out I was pregnant 2 times and miscarried. This is why they want me to take it 3 days after I ovulate INCASE an embryo will implant. Apparently, my lining is so darn thin that I can't ever maintain a pregnancy if I don't treat my lining before hand. (it needs to be thicker so it actually finds a place to attach itself) So, this throws my cycles out to lunch! I've made an appointment to see my Doctor tonight to get more clomid and buy an ovulation kit; so, I will ask him about all this. I had previously said in one of my postings that I was so happy for you and your progress...you must look so wonderful! How are you feeling?

jonelle - April 13th, 2007 8:55 PM

Hey there Chantal! I am glad that you too are going through that whole day and ovulation time and all of that when to start stuff...but here is the answer! I too went through this and figured it out through the help of my medically inclined husband: No matter how long your cycle is, you always still count the first day of your period as day 1. Last month I had a 27 day cycle (surprisingly the prometrium didn't delay it this month) so I will start my prometium on day 16 instead of day 17. I did surge today...YEAH! And also, I know that this is crazy personal but I am SUPER wet in the undercarriage and really think that I should ovulate any minute. I wasn't scheduled to have sex today as I am doing every other day too so tomorrow is my day. Wish me luck:) I too am going all the way doggy style with the O and hoping that this what I have been missing all these months! I hope that your doc gave you the same advice that I did...let me know if he didn't because maybe I should change things too!
Minkey...how are you feeling? I too was put on prometrium with my first son after I got pregnant and was spotting...after I lost his twin 12 weeks in my spotting stopped and I could stop the prometrium. This time around they are being proactive and giving it to me after ovulation for the same reasons as Chantal...so hopefully this will be the month! Thanks for all your advice! Talk soon girls:)

Meme9399 - April 13th, 2007 10:13 PM

I just found out last week that I am pregnant with my 3rd child at the age of 33. I have a 13 year old and a 7 year old. At first I was shocked and scared, but then quickly became excited. Now that I have accepted this pregnancy, I found out today that the bloodwork I had last week resulted in good HcG levels, but low progesterone levels. My doctor is recommending that I take 100mg 2/x a day of Prometrium. I have been so upset all day, but after seeing everyone's post I have hope that I do not miscarry this baby. I will keep posting as I find out. My first doctors appointment is Monday and I am around 6 weeks pregnant. Thank you all for making me feel better.

theresa2007 - April 14th, 2007 8:43 PM

I'm taking only 100mg daily orally of prometrium and I am wondering if anyone thinks that this is probably too small of an amount to even make a difference. I've had two early miscarriages. I think it was due to luteal phase defect. This time I didn't have the spotting I had with the other pregnancies that ended in m/c. I don't know if the progesterone helped or if it was the red raspberry leaf extract and the vitex extract I was taking. It's just that from what I read 100mg is next to nothing. With such a low does, I am wondering if I can stop taking it at 10 weeks or if I need to go to 12 weeks. My doctor isn't much help as he doesn't believe in the progesterone and only gave me a prescription to assuage me.

cShell - April 15th, 2007 11:05 AM

Good Morning everyone. I'm new to the forum and to have a story.
I am 42 yr/old, have 3 children (youngest is 14) and two grandchildren! We recently found out, on Easter, that we were pregnant again. After 2 miscarriages since 2003. In 2006, new doctor prescribed Prometrium 100mg x2 daily vaginally, which we tried for a few months then dumped the idea. My husband did the whole sperm testing x2 and me more tests than I imagined.
Sooo, as soon as we found out I started the Prometrium right away.
I have another new doctor and had to have the RX refilled through them. They were unsure why the original RX was for the pill to be taken vaginally and said I should just take it orally. After much research this week and with the reconfirmation from all of you....I'm takin' the daing things vaginally!!
I'm scheduled for the 1st OB this coming week with an U/S to follow.
I usually can't make it past the 8-9 week phase w/o miscarrying. Now I am going into week 7, and kind of scared (if you know what I mean). I will have them check my progesterone level at my next visit, great idea!
Any other suggestions for questions to doctor for us ladies taking this drug with this pregnancy?

TIA

jonelle - April 16th, 2007 7:27 PM

Good evening! How is everyone doing? Chantal...how are things going? I have been thinking about you lady and know that you too are in your "busy" phase:) I am on day 15 so I am about half way there for the month. I start my prometrium tomorrow morning and am hoping for the best. Let me know you are doing. To meme9399, theresa2007 and cShell, all I say is that you should DEFINITELY take the prometrium vaginally! I had a child who is now almost 3 and I started taking the prometrium after I was pregnant and spotting. I took it for 12 weeks vaginally 200mg once a day. Now I am trying to get pregnant again (this is my 6th month trying) and my dcotor isn't even waiting until I get pregnant he has put me on it starting on day 16-17 (depending on the length of my cycle) twice a day this time 200mg but again vaginally. I never even knew that you could take it orally until I met girls on this site. For me I feel that by putting it directly in the "source" that it gets there quicker, plus my husband is in the medical field and says that it makes more sense because if you take it orally then it has to enter the blood streat, be filtered by the liver before it even reaches the area in need:) So just insist that you insert the yellow peanut M&M where it counts and don't look back! I don't feel any different this time taking more of a dose than I did with my son and my theory is the more the merrier! So let me know how you are all doing and best wishes to all...talk soon girls, I have to attempt to get an active 2 1/2 year old to bed so that I can relax and think baby thoughts! Hugs to all:)

Chantal - April 17th, 2007 9:28 AM

Hello Jonelle; I haven't started the DEED yet but I think it will be clear sailing for this evening. I still have a little leftover period going on! I started my CLOMID yesterday and got an extremely bad headache from it. It's gone today....so, let's hope it doesn't come back. Other than that...we'll be GOING STRONG this month because this is IT for us! We have our appointment with the Fertility Clinic to get the ball rolling with In-Vetro May 8th. So, I'm praying that things will fall into place this month and there won't be a need for In-Vetro at all. We'll just have to wait and see. Keep in touch...I'm glad that you are doing well and GIVING ER' just as hard as I am. BIg hugs BACK at ya!

cShell - April 17th, 2007 10:16 AM

Thanks to Jonelle for her words of encouragement on the Prometrium!
Best of Luck to ya, too.

I'm trying to be very optimistic this time around, even though it's early in the game...7 wks tomorrow. I told my husband that "I'm going to enjoy the feeling of being pregnant for as long as I can, because I may never experience it again."

I even ordered my belly beats doppler yesterday - I get it today! My husband is out of town on business and I'm sure I'll be obsessing over this new toy for the next couple of weeks!! :)

bally280 - April 17th, 2007 3:41 PM

Hello everyone,

I hope to get a period so i can start counting my cycles etc but im a bit worried i may become pregnant again and not take the tablets. any advice welcomed.
