OK. I'll stop on my way home. I started painting a mural (you know what they say...build it and it will come!) It keeps me happy and thinking good thoughts!

Alright...I'm now on day 20 and darn ovulation kit still doesn't show me a darn line. It's very faint??? So, I don't want to risk being too late taking the prometrium if I am pregnant so, I'll start it tonight. Then it will be time for a TEST the 1st wk of Feb.

nic - January 24th, 2007 10:32 AM

Chantal, has the line been darker on previous days than it is now? If so, I would assume that you'd ovulated and you'd just missed testing at the peak time, so if it's 3 days past ovulation, start the progesterone. Maybe you could do a progesterone test in a week to confirm whether or not you ovulated?

Thanks for your advice Nic. I started it last night...I'm cramping on my left side today. I don't get sick at all with them like other ladies do though...This might sounds crazy but, do you know if you can wear a tampon? It's just icky sitting here at work (I'm sure you know what I mean).

Hello All. I could use some advise. I am currently 6 weeks preg. I have one 3yr old daughter no problem pregnancy. I have had 3 misscarriages early ,one was a blighted ovum and one ectopic pregnancy that did no damage but I did have surgury. I have a few clotting disorders such as MTHFR and I am on heprin shots once a day, 81mg asprin and a coctail of vitamins. Yesterday I was so excited to hear the see the heartbeat on an ultrasound! The dr also saw what he said was an implantation bleed in the uturus and told me not to worry about it or any bleeding I may have. Then when I got my blood results back from yesterday, my HCG levels took 6 days to double and are at 5900 and my progesterone had dropped from 39 to 23 in a weeks time. I have been trying to do as much reseaerch as possible to ease my mind. I have heard cases where the hcg does not double as fast as usual but things work out. I am now trying to figure out what to do about my progesterone. Nurse at my drs office said there is nothing that can be done if you are going to misscarry but she said seing a heartbeat was a good sign. I talked her into getting me an appointment this friday to check the progress. I was on prometrium with the last misscarriage d have the prescription still in my med cabinet. I just took one vagionally but it does say do not take if you have a clotting dissorder.. Has anyone been put on this with a clotting disorder. I have not told my dr that I am taking it due to the fact I just now took it and they seem to have the opinion that nothing will help anyway. And still with the drop in progesterone the level 23 is in the okay range..... but I dont want it to drop anymore. I know there is a contraversy if the progesterne even helps at all. Another question is about vanishing twin syndrome.. wonder if that coud have happened to me and that is the blood they saw in the uterus??? Any thoughts. Thanks so much!

Hey there, I wish I could help. I've never heard that you can't take progesterone if you have a clotting problem... have you checked out babycenter.com? They have lots of forums like this one and I bet you could find what you're looking for there. I also have an implantation bleed (I'm 10 weeks) but last week the ultrasound showed that it had disappeared. Good luck - I hope everything turns out ok. With my progesterone, I take 2 suppositories in the morning and 2 at night. I do believe progesterone does help but do your research first!

Amberley! I'm 10 weeks pregnant today today, after 6 early miscarriages. A heartbeat is a great sign! I'm worried too... hoping this is The One!

Amberlys Mom - February 1st, 2007 1:16 AM

Well hopefully this is the one for both of us Nic!!! Are you still on prometrium? I am on it for 2 more weeks, and I have mixed emotions about going off it, lol. When are you due?

nic - February 1st, 2007 1:33 AM

Yep, I'm on progesterone still - I know most people go off it in their second trimester but my doctor hasn't told me when he's taking me off it yet. I know I'll be very scared to go off it!! I don't wanna!!!! I'm due August 28 - how about you?

RYC09 - February 1st, 2007 2:17 AM

I have a question. I am currently 17 years old and I am in around 6w 3d pregnant from first day of last period. I had blood work done on Monday of last week and recieved a phone call today saying my progesterone levels were slightly low but everything else was very good. I was perscribed 200 mg 1x a day but i don't know if i should take it orally or vaginally. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow. I wonder something else, i fell down the stairs on ice, and i went to my doctor the following day and she said it was unlikely that anything happened to it. I am just worried that something is going to go wrong with my first pregnancy. I just feel so guilty...can anyone help me?

nic - February 1st, 2007 2:20 PM

Talk to your pharmacist. I take vaginal suppositories but maybe the oral meds are different - I'd find out first before taking them!

minkey - February 1st, 2007 2:26 PM

RYC09 - I was subscribed 200mg Prometrium 1x/day as well by my doctor for low progesterone in early pregnancy. He wanted me to take it orally, but I'd read lots of places (including in these posts!) that it's more effective if taken vaginally, so that's what I did. I asked my doctor first if I had to get a different prescription and he said no -- the prometrium pill could be swallowed or inserted vaginally as a suppository. It seems weird to shove a pill up your vaginal canal rather than swallowing it, but that's what I did and it WORKED LIKE A CHARM! I'm now 29 weeks alon and in my last trimester; my little guy (knock on wood) is doing just fine. Good luck!

RYC09 - February 1st, 2007 9:54 PM

minkey- wow congrats on your 29 weeks! well i will call my doctor tomorrow and see if it is ok to do that...thanks for the advice!

Chantal - February 2nd, 2007 10:26 AM

Well, I shouldn't be in the dumps but I did a pregnancy test last night and it was negative. You know the First Response tests that can detect up to 4 days before your expected period. This will be my second month of prometrium and no luck. I've heard of people showing negative results but then on their actual period date it comes up positive. I'll do another test in 2 days. I just feel blue! I'm happy for all of you ladies...

nic - February 2nd, 2007 11:08 AM

I'm sorry Chantal. Hopefully in a couple of days you'll get a better result!
