Half way through the month I went to my doctors told them I had pain and I got all checked out. When I went back to my doctors she began to explain to me that I had endometriosis, it upset me but I have been feeling weird lately and I insisted that she give me a pregnancy test as well.

So she did so and came back 10 minutes later only to tell me that I am in fact pregnant, but with a baffled look on her face. It was kinda funny cause she was like "usually its really hard to conceive" like she thought that I thought that she was lying to me lol
Needless to say I feel super lucky and happy but at the same time a little worried.

How can this effect my pregnancy? Are there extra risks? I'm going back to my doctors on sunday to ask more question but I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation with some answers.

I have read a little about endo, and from what I understand the hormones in pregnancy and the lack of menstration actually helps the endo. Endo is caused when some of the lining that is suppose to sluff off during your period stays in a grows into the wall of the uterine lining. So if your period stops for a while it can allow it to shrink and deminish on its own. Often women will have less endo symptoms while pregnant and for a few months after pregnancy. But, of course I am not a Dr. so definately bring it up with your OB.

andraia,

I had my lap done on mar 31st, they discovered that I had endometrosis and removed it but i had a lot of adhesions which had to be removed and also scarring. I was back for my checkup few weeks back and was told that I may never get pregnant and after a year go for IVF when I will be 34 1/2 as I will not receive it when Im 36 as there is too much damage done. I was also in extreme pain before when on contraception so I dont know how long i will be able to stick the pain on just painkillers. So if you managed it hopefully I will as I would like a playmat for my child who is nearly 3. Best of luck with your pregnancy.

Just to give you ladies a positive outlook. I was diagnosed with endo when I was 25, by way of lap surgery. After my surgery, where they cleaned up as much as possible, I was finally able to conceive... on the first try (after TTC for 2 years prior). My doc told me to have my kids close together in order to avoid the cells from growing in my uterus again (the more periods uou have, the greater the chance of re-growth). I had no trouble conceiving my son a year later. I am now 36 and preg with baby #4. Never had any issues getting preg again... nor did I have any endo-related issues while pg. Good luck to all who were in my shoes!

I have endometriosis and have 3 girls, ages 5, 4, and 2, and am currently pregnant with my fourth child. I wouldn't always listen to what doctors say as "fact". I've had 4 laparoscopy's to remove the buildup and was told that I would probably never have kids. Well, my first two were planned, and we purposely had them close together, they're 16 months apart, because we knew we wanted more than 1 child and we were afraid to wait too long because of what the doctor's kept saying. Well, my third girl and the baby I'm currently carrying were HUGE surprises, which isn't supposed to be able to happen to me! So, needles to say, I guess doctor's do get things wrong sometimes!!

Hi just back at work since Monday 27th July after giving 6 days in hospital trouble with the endometriosis and pelvic infection (had thrush few weeks ago hadnt cleared up properly)I have been trying for a baby since 9th June and the doc doesnt think I can handle the pain on just painkillers and wants me to forget about having a second child and go on the hormone injections called Decapeptyl 3-month for the next 6-9 months to give my body a break from pain. Has anyone been on these before, have they had side-effects and did they manage to get pregnant afterwards.
