Well, I'm about 10 weeks (guessing). I have gotten down to barely two ciggs a day. I'm really proud of myself. I went a whole day without smoking the other day.

Well I am a quitter!! Thought I could give you all a little advice. It will be easier once you can feel the baby moving, because then you feel reallly guilty. Try suckers gum, even food(just make it healthy like carrots). It's going to be hard, but you all can do it!!!!

Tara B - November 18th, 2006 5:46 PM

i smoked cigarettes before I found I was pregnant it wasn't that hard for to turn my back on it. I found that it was the hand to mouth thing that I was addicted to. I think thats why I have been eating so much. I also smoked pot every day until I found I was pregnant. I am 19 weeks and haven't smoked any pot since like 5.6 weeks. I was and am still doing good, but I want to smoke pot so bad. Anyone else?

Hi JezzPezz, welcome to the group, that is fantastic that you are down to 2 a day!
Hi babyluftblasenontheway, I hope that it helps when you feel the baby move because if that doesnt then I am screwed, I will have to read Allen Carr again.
Hi Tara B, You are doing so well to quit not one but 2 habits for the sake of you baby, it would be a shame if you started again, if you are strong enough to go 13 weeks you can go a lifetime just find something else to occupy your time. You are an inspiration to us who are still trying to quit!
Now for my weekend.........I still have today to go in the weekend but it is 12:15pm and no cig yet but they will. Now I had a wedding to go to yesterday, so I had my mandatory few sips of champagne for the toasts and my volutary sips of beer through the day and night which amounted to maybe a glass of beer and later on in the night had my most treasured bottle of Corona, but................................I must have smoked a pack of 25 on my own! I am deeply shamed and will be making an effort to not have a cig on Monday. Ok now I may be punished.
babymakes5, how have you been going? Hopefully better than me. I did that test and i fall into the social smoker catagory, I thought it would be that. Now to work out how to quit argggg!!!

babii_boo91 - November 18th, 2006 8:31 PM

off topic but does anyone no how to induce labour at home naturally???? PLEASE

Sarebare - November 18th, 2006 8:49 PM

if you are late then try stimulating your nipples one at a time not both at the same time as this might stress out the baby. I heard that holding your bladder starts contractions too. good luck!

leeleemom - November 18th, 2006 10:20 PM

Well I quit smoking and i have to say it is not an easy thing to do! I commend all of you for putting the effort into it. I know it is not easy and so many people are quick to judge and that only makes it harder and much more stressful on you. All I can tell you is take it day by day. GOOD LUCK!!

Sarebare I love your baby blanket idea, just need something to keep my hands busy!! Im 13 weeks today, also 5 on a good day about a million on a bad day, as im trying to plan a rushed wedding thats 6 weeks away, v v frustrating!!

Tara B - November 19th, 2006 7:45 PM

Thanks Sarebare! Hows it going for you? I knew two ladies who smoked the entire time they were pregnant and I remember telling myself when I saw these girls light up infron of others that I would do my best to quit. One girl would come out into the garage while we were all smoking pot and cigs and sit right in the middle and smoke her cig and she would burp and fart too. As far as I know her baby is okay. The other girls baby was fine the baby was born with jaundice <--spelling, but I don't think that had anything to do with smoking. My boyfriend still smokes most of the time he goes outside, but other times he lock himself in the bathroom at the end of the hall and turn on the fan and smoke.

Welcome everyone! Sarebare-don't beat yourself up about the other day-we're all going to have bad ones. The best thing is to get back on the wagon, right? There's always Monday. I didn't do too bad over the weekend, about 5 every day, maybe 6 on Sat. I had 7 kids at my house Sat and Sun and I think the stress kept taking me outside for a smoke. I don't smoke in the house and it's getting cold here-so I'm hoping eventually it'll be too cold for me to want to go outside!! Wow, Tara B, I'm very impressed. I've been having a hard time with the pot too. Dh still drinks, and since I'm not a big drinker, it makes me want to have some fun too. Although I've been keeping it to just a hit now and then. I really need to quit both! although my doc said he's rather have me smoke the pot than the cigs, because of all the other chemicals. Unfortunately, I don't think that was an invite though! LOL...Good luck to everyone. I'm definitely hoping that once I feel the baby move, it'll help. Especially if it moved while I was having one! I'd feel terrible. I think even hearing a heartbeat would help. If I had any talent on knitting, I'd try that, but I'll have to find another hobby.

Sarebare - November 21st, 2006 2:00 AM

Well, I am a social smoker.... Interesting stuff. I have had 6 today so far but at 15 1/2 weeks I have been plagued with morning sickness once again so I am not really enjoying my cigs as much as a result. It's funny, everytime I go to not have any cigs for the day I keep telling myself I need one badly so I will try again tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes, I think you just have to dig the heels in and just grit your teeth and do it and not slip up or the cycle starts again. I don't know when my next tomorrow is. Might be time for "Yippie I'm a non-smoker" Hope y'all are doing well, I will respond to last posts in the next couple of days I am just exhausted tonight!

Im an ex-smoker. I quite before I was pg..so didnt have the issue. I think you al are very responsible in doing your best to quit and cut down. Good For you..just think of that little baby.
I really miss my glass of wine when Im pg...but I just think of the baby..
Good Luck!!!!!!

babyluftblasenontheway - November 21st, 2006 2:01 PM

Tara B. I know exactly what you are going through. I was a pretty big pot smoker before I would out I was pregnant, and quit. It is realllly hard to be quitting cigarettes and pot at the same time, it stresses you out like no other. Just remeber you are doin this for your baby, and it's only a small chance and time to pay to have a healthy baby. I want to smoke pot like no other, but the cravings do go away after awhile. I know me wanting to smoke pot is just a mental addiction now. I ate alot to take place for both, just remeber to eat healthy thats all. Good Luck.

yumymumy - November 22nd, 2006 6:52 PM

Sarebare - November 22nd, 2006 7:05 PM

Well I had 6 cigs yesterday so I went over the alloted 5 but I have been doing that for the last few days anyway. Today I am attempting 4 or less and already had 2. I have a fair bit to do today so I am hoping it will take my mind off of the cravings. One makes me nervous though. I have a mystery shop to do and I have never done one before. Another is designing a store front for someone so that will be fun I might get the mystery shop out of the way first and then race back to do the design before I attempt to light up to calm my nerves. I am thinking about setting a date to quit and then reading that Allen Carr book that has been collecting dust for a few months. Maybe we should all set a date together and see what we can do. I am pretty easy on a date to quit but it needs to be not too far away otherwise you just keep wanting to put it off. Let me know what you all think about setting a date!

DownbutnotOUT - November 23rd, 2006 9:06 PM
